‘Survivor’ Fans Say ‘Lose Your Vote’ Ruins Game’s Purpose
Survivor is a gameshow that requires good gameplay and survival skills to win the competition. However, there are also some moments in the series where it seems that it is more about luck than skill. That is what the “Lost Your Vote” moments are all about, and many fans feel that it ruins the spirit of the show.
Here is what fans have been saying about the “Lose Your Vote” moments on Survivor.
Survivor Fans Hate ‘Lose Your Vote’ Moments
This week saw a moment happen on Survivor that fans have been complaining about for a long time now. This is the Lose Your Vote moment, and it is a case where a player can lose their chance to vote based on nothing but luck. Viewers feel it takes away the skill used in the competition series.
This is one of the “journeys” in the New Era of Survivor. Each player has a bag with three packages inside. One of the packages contains an advantage. If they pull a Lose Your Vote, they can risk a second vote and pick again.
Kyle and Anika both lose a vote and opt to end the game. This was all based on the luck of what they pulled out of the bag and required no skills or anything else other than luck. Rome did get lucky, and he pulled an advantage, which was a “Steal-a-Vote.” Rome also has an idol, so he has plenty of advantages right now.
While much of the show is about challenges that require skill, endurance, and brains, the journey with the “Lose Your Vote” options features none of those. Survivor fans want to see these type of gameplay challenges eliminated.
Fans Bask ‘Lose Your Vote’ Journey On Survivor
Fans hated everything about this moment, a complaint many have had on Survivor for a few seasons. However, Jeff Probst seems to like the “Lose Your Vote” addition, so it isn’t likely to be going anywhere.
Fans were not happy about it and said it ruined the spirit of the game (via Reddit):
- “It’s freaking random chance most of the time! There was not even a choice involved, just luck of the draw.”
- “It just seems anti- survivor to force a player to lose their vote because of something out of their control”
- “They need to just trust the players to play the game. I’d rather watch a reward challenge than journeys”
What are your thoughts on the Survivor players losing their votes because of things that are just random choices? Do you feel it is better when everything is determined by gameplay and not by luck? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
