Blake Shelton Stepped Up As A Father Figure
Despite not having any biological children of his own, Blake Shelton has really stepped up as a father figure to Gwen Stefani’s three sons. When Blake got with Gwen, she had three sons from her previous relationship with rocker Gavin Rossdale. So, it was a package deal when Blake decided to be part of Gwen’s life.
Even though Gwen Stefani’s kids were raised in a much different environment when compared to the way that Blake Shelton grew up, Blake has been able to teach them about the country way of living. This includes being out on the land and getting your hands dirty. Blake often speaks about the joy he gets from introducing the boys to this.
Shelton Gifts Zuma Rossdale A Family Heirloom
When it was Zuma Rossdale’s 16th birthday, he got a special gift. This is a significant age for anyone coming of age, and stepdad Blake Shelton made sure that Zuma would never forget this special day. It turns out, stepdad Blake gave Zuma a truck that was Blake’s father’s vehicle.
Blake Shelton’s dad, Dick Shelton, passed away in 2012. So, this was a passing of the torch moment that had a lot of meaning for Blake, especially since he got to pass it on to Zuma.
Speaking of the unique and sentimental gift, Gwen Stefani said: “At the ranch there was an old truck that was Blake’s dad’s. And his dad has passed, but it was sitting there, no dashboard, rusted apart…[Zuma’s] been begging for that truck for like, years. He ended up getting the truck last year. Blake gave it to him, put a dashboard in.”
Blake Shelton And Zuma Have A Special Bond
As much as Shelton has grown to love Gwen Stefani’s boys over the years, it seems Zuma Rossdale is really taking to Blake and his country way of life. It wasn’t all that long ago that Zuma performed for the first time at Blake’s bar, and he chose to play a country song to boot. It was indeed a proud moment for Blake, and Zuma killed it up on stage.
Now, not only does Zuma have Shelton for a stepdad, but, he also has a piece of Shelton family history, with Blake’s dad’s truck going to Zuma. According to Gwen Stefani, Zuma even named the vehicle Dorothy, in honor of Shelton’s mother.
