Jax Taylor & Brittany Cartwright Never Legally Married?

Season 7 of Vanderpump Rules was all about Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright’s engagement. He proposed in the season premiere and then they started planning their engagement party. She went on to ask her friends and some co-stars to be in the wedding. Many believed that Jax had changed as his father passed away after Season 6 ended. In the summer of 2019, the cast gathered at a mansion in Kentucky for the joyous day. Lance Bass of ‘NSYNC officiated the wedding and it looked like he signed off on their marriage license. However, Vanderpump fans are well aware that not all weddings are legal on the show. Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney had a lavish wedding in Season 5 but he never filed the paperwork thus they were never legally married. They did make it legal in Vegas but was this what had happened with Jax and Brittany? According to Us Weekly, in the divorce filing, Jax said they were never married.

As it can be clearly seen, Jax Taylor checked the box that says: “Respondent contends that the parties never legally married or registered in a domestic partnership.” However, he also said that they were married and were seeking a divorce so it was a very confusing filing. After this snafu was called out, Jax’s rep clarified that he made this mistake since professionals typically do this paperwork:

“While Jax made errors in filing out forms that are usually done by trained legal professionals, those errors will be amended without delay.”

Giving Up His Son

Another hot topic is the fact that Jax Taylor gave his estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright full custody of their son, Cruz, 3. Their rep added this:

“Jax and Brittany have already long resolved all matters related to custody of Cruz, and will continue to work together privately for the best interest of their son, which remains their overriding concern.”

Though Brittany moved out of their Valley Village home at the end of January 2024, Jax put September 26th as their separation date. As for their home, which she has since moved back into, that will be dealt with later. For now, Jax has moved into an apartment after occupying their house for several months. Brittany and Cruz stayed in an Airbnb but it seems they have swapped living situations.

Are you surprised that Jax messed up the filing? More so, do you think he was the right one to fill it out or should he have had someone with proper training to do it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
