Ryan Seacrest Seeks Therapy After ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Criticism

Ryan Seacrest was very successful before joining Wheel of Fortune as its new host. However, the American Idol host and former co-host of Live with… is struggling in the eyes of fans on Wheel of Fortune. According to one source, it sounds like it is weighing on Ryan, and he isn’t taking things well.

Here is what Ryan might be doing to settle in better on Wheel of Fortune.

Fans Bashing Ryan Seacrest On Wheel Of Fortune

Several complaints have been made about Ryan Seacrest and his actions on Wheel of Fortune. One of the biggest complaints is that Ryan is great when players win and shows great excitement. However, when players lose or have bad guesses, he reacts differently than Pat Sajak (via Closer Weekly).

When players lost, Sajak showed support and empathized with them. This made the players feel better and endeared him to the viewers at home. However, one of the biggest complaints about Ryan is that he doesn’t have the same empathy and seems uncaring when players struggle. Other viewers feel that Ryan has little charisma, which seems strange considering his experience in front of the camera.

Recently, a contestant named Vivian was on the show, and she lost the $1 million bonus round prize. When she lost, Ryan chuckled somewhat and said, “You were so close to that million dollars. You almost had it.” He went on to remind her that she did win $27,300 and a trip to Europe.

Fans at home felt that he didn’t realize how bad this was for the player and commented about it on social media:

  • “It’s more devastating than maybe he realizes.”
  • “Ryan laughed at her, I felt – Pat was way more demure about it.”
  • “Can he even remember what it’s like to not be rich?”
  • “Didn’t Ryan say something like ‘You’re going to kick yourself’ or something like that? While Pat acted like somebody died.”

Ryan Seacrest Taking The Criticism Seriously

A source close to Ryan Seacrest said the Wheel of Fortune host is taking the criticism seriously. It is also something that he is having a hard time dealing with. “Ryan’s a lot more sensitive than people give him credit for and his confidence and arrogance are merely bravado for him,” they said.

The source went on to say that Ryan is going to start seeing a therapist and is hoping that therapy will help him deal better with the negative feedback. “He finds himself in the firing line and people don’t like him and it’s his worst nightmare,” the source indicated.

What have you thought of Ryan Seacrest and his performance on Wheel of Fortune since replacing Pat Sajak? Has he been as bad as some fans seem to think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. I am feeling for Ryan. FACE IT – Pat Sajak is who he is and Ryan Seacrest who he is. Different personalities. I have watched both for many years on different shows. Ryan (to me) comes across in his own personal way of dealing with the public. He is quite a different personality than that of Pat Sajak. In this present situation, I feel Ryan felt he was using a bit of “joking” to help this contestant get through what she was feeling at the time. I in no way, feel Ryan was being cruel; he is great personality and is doing a great job in his own personal outlook. GIVE HIM A BREAK. I remember a few times cringing at a remark which was made by Pat Sajak (I thought he was great otherwise).

  2. I think Ryan is doing a great job. I feel he brings a little more excitement to the game. I think people just don’t like change. People have said things about Pat when he was hosting. Give Ryan break.

  3. Ryan is good he’s different than Pat give him a break. The only thing I think is seems like he’s going to fast with them like pushing them through the show fast. I like him so far.

  4. I think Ryan is doing a good job. Of course he is not going to do things the same as Pat did. Give the man a chance

  5. Here’s the deal on Ryan Seacrest:

    1. He is not Pat Sayjak. He has more hosting experience than Pat because he’s hosted so many more shows. He is not required to be the same as Pat.

    2. Ryan is nice to Vanna and Johnny Gilbert and very considerate and caring to contestants. He even memorizes their names and info, while Pat had to use note cards. And there’s NO WAY Vivian could have won $1 million no matter what Ryan could have said or done.

    3. Ryan’s only problems are the hatred-wielding Ryan-bashers who want to cause trouble for him. They shouldn’t be allowed to watch the show. Ryan doesn’t need therapy.

    4. Leave Ryan alone. He’s THE BEST!

    1. I think Ryan is just getting used to all of this. It’s obvious he’s trying hard to fill some big old shoes with a new personality. When he is more comfortable with the show, I think he’ll do very well. Cut him some slack and you’ll be surprised!

  6. Ryan is doing a good job I think. As someone said he’s Ryan and not Pat. I do think he may be a little loud and goes a little to fast but all in all he’s doing a good job. He jokes around a little and has a good personality. PEOPLE, give him a chance and let him be himself!

    1. I agree, he is not Pat Sajak. Just like Ken Jennings is not Alex Trebeck. Quit being such nay sayers. Give the man a chance to be more confident in his role as host.

    2. I have to agree with you all who support Ryan. I was one who didn’t think he was a good choice, but was ready to give him a chance. And watching him these past couple weeks I have to apologize to him and say I think he’s doing a great job. Sure, he’s not Pat, he’s Ryan, with his own personality. Hang in there, Ryan!

  7. Seriously…couldn’t they have found someone else and better than Ryan Seacrest?! He hosts everything! Let someone else have a job!

  8. I find Ryan to be a breath of fresh air. Pat needed to go a few years ago. I like that he is interested enough in the contestants to learn about them & not rely on notes.

  9. I think he is doing a good job. It’s hard to go in to replace a longtime host. I will continue watching everyday !

  10. i think hes doing a great job he witty has a sense of humor and everything. hes not going to be like Pat theyre different people. give him a chance
the same people was criticizing Pat too. let people do their job.

  11. Seacrest is a worthy host for Wheel of Fortune. He is spot on with the puzzles and the information for each one. He also doesn’t hold cue cards for contestants personal information nor puzzles
I’m not sure how he does this as there are multiple shows taped each day. With the new show stage and split screen tv with the puzzle and contestants, Sajak isn’t missed as much as I thought he would be.

  12. I love Ryan on everything he does. He’s a very genuine person in my opinion. When Vivian got the million I actually paid close attention to what Ryan’s reaction was and it wasn’t any different from Pat’s. He’s trying to get in the groove and everyone should be able to relate to that. He’s been there three weeks and Pat was there forty years, give the man a minute to get settled in.

  13. No he is not Pat, so I say give him a chance. He is very full of himself and always has been. The bad part is he doesn’t relate to people that aren’t rich, so he doesn’t care when they lose because he doesn’t get it!

  14. I noticed he kinda leans alot…..bends over n leans on his podium, and also too fast to end the “meet the contestant” time. doesn’t at all seem interested in what they say about themselves. I think he does pretty good tho.

  15. I agree with the majority of the comments about Ryan he’s new and will have to adjust to the shoes he has to fill. I do feel though as one observer or two have said he needs to tap it down a little I think is very energetic hyper type personality and he tends to rush through things.
just calm down and relax a little bit more take a deep breath
