‘Roller Jam’: Chip And Joanna Gaines Showcase New Series
Chip and Joanna Gaines showcase their new series, Roller Jam. The competition series recently released a trailer along with information about the upcoming series. They are taking over Reality TV.
Chip And Joanna Gaines Are Fixing Up Reality TV
Serving as executive producers of the upcoming competition series are Chip and Joanna Gaines. She is a 46-year-old interior designer. Additionally, she is a television personality and author.
In 2013, Joanna and her husband, Chip started hosting a home renovation show on HGTV, Fixer Upper. The TV couple has three children together: Drake, Ella Rose, and Duke. With 14 million followers on Instagram alone, Joanna is no stranger to the media world.
Furthermore, the two are cofounders of the Magnolia Network. Now, she and her husband are spreading their skills and series types to competition. Reportedly, the couple has more reality TV shows in the works, and airing soon on Max other than the skating series.
The other series the couple has in the works are Second Chance Stage and Human vs. Hamster. Both are competition series. The first one focuses on talent. The hamster one, allegedly, showcases “the world’s most remarkable pet hamsters go toe-to-toe with teams of humans in scaled challenges.”
Rolling Their Way In
Roller Jam is an upcoming skating competition series. The series was first announced by Magnolia Network back in August 2023. The series is hosted by singer and songwriter, Jordin Sparks. As the seemingly only competition show of its kind, it might skate through with no competition of its own or crash without interest.
Reportedly, Joanna Gaines is a roller skater so it makes sense that she would want to shine some light on the lesser appreciated sport. With currently only six episodes for the series, it will present many talented roller skating teams across the country. They will demonstrate their routines that will span across different decades.
The winner of the competition will get $150,000 and $10,000 for their local rink. One of the judges for the competition is a two-time U.S. Olympian and national figure asking champ, Johnny Weir. In addition to Weir is iconic rollerskater, Terrell Ferguson. Then, there will be celebrity guest judges that seem to rotate in.
Moreover, the celebrity guest judges will be Michelle Williams, Maureen McCormick, Pepa, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Debbie Gibson, and the one and only, Joanna Gaines. Will this be the next new craze?
The Jamming Trailer
The official trailer from Max gives some big insight into what fans can expect from the series. Someone remarks, “This is the biggest thing in roller skating history.” With a quick showing of some skates, Sparks announces, “This is Roller Jam.”
The competition already looks intense as the trailer showcases the skills of the multiple skating crews. They come from all over the country. They have teams from Atlanta, Houston, Las Vegas, Nashville, New York, and St. Louis.
Furthermore, Ferguson noted, “We’ve got the 10 best teams in America ready to battle it out, with $150 grand on the line.” The trailer showcases the bright and illuminated rink. The shining sign reads “Roller Jam” in the back of the room along with a disco ball and neon coloring possibly signifying the beginning eras as the 70s or 80s.
Weir jumps in to say, “This show is the first time ever that roller skating is being appreciated.” Additionally, Joanna emphasizes, “The love [and] the connection” that the crews are bringing to the series with their routines.
Already, viewers can see the training the contestants partake in which makes sense as there is a high prize on the line. One contestant says, “We have prepared our entire lives for this one moment.” Another contestant discloses, “Not that many people know the work, blood, sweat, and tears that go into it.”
Roller Jam will be ready to watch on Max on Thursday, October 10th.
