Why Andrei Castravet Labeled Elizabeth Potthast’s Family ‘A Cult’

The world knows about the love story between Andrei Castravet and his wife, Elizabeth, after watching things play out between them on 90 Day Fiance. People have been obsessed with 90 Day Fiance since it first premiered in 2014. The show is filled to the brim with drama about long-distance couples. It reveals the most cringe-worthy challenges they face after finally coming together in the flesh. For Andrei and Elizabeth, his opinion of her family members hasn’t been totally positive. Here’s why Andrei compared Elizabeth’s family to “a cult.”

Andrei Castravet Gets Cultish Vibes From His Wife’s Family

Andrei opened up about Elizabeth‘s family with Us Weekly saying they were “like a cult.” Ever since Andrei and Elizabeth have created distance between themselves and her family members, it’s helped their marriage thrive. Elizabeth noted, “We don’t fight as much, for sure. They did come in between us. We have so much more peace in our home in general.” She got more specific with the nitty gritty details saying:

”Everybody would just get together and would talk about my decisions. It just got to a point where it was too toxic. I’m really only speaking with my dad and Becky, and sometimes my mom. Honestly, once I took some time apart, I saw how good it was, and you just see life in the world differently. I don’t want to go back into that toxicity.”

Becky is her sister, by the way. The truth of the matter is that any young couple dealing with criticism and judgment from family members will undoubtedly have their fair share of struggles. As a way of keeping their bond as strong and healthy as possible, it was certainly in Andrei and Elizabeth‘s best interest to draw up some boundaries.

This beloved 90 Day Fiance couple matched on a dating app before meeting face-to-face in Dublin for the first time. Living in different places to start wasn’t enough to hold them back because they tied the knot in October 2017. Six short months later, they revealed they were pregnant and expecting their first child together. In 2019, they welcomed their daughter and in 2022, they welcomed their son.

On August 12, Elizabeth shared an IG Reel to showcase a happy beach day with her whole family. The comment section is full of loving support:
