‘Young & Restless’ Camryn Grimes Defends Son’s Name

The Young and the Restless actress Camryn Grimes is known for being active with social media. Like many actors, it allows her to reach out to fans. However, when a fan made a comment about her son’s name, Grimes made sure to come to her child’s defense.

Some Users Insulted Her New Son’s Name

Grimes and her fiancé Brock Powell saw the birth of their son, Bridger Elias, in late 2023. Their first child, Grimes has shared photos of her son on social media, as well as talking about parenthood.

Unfortunately, Grimes learned the hard way that fans aren’t always kind. Things started when an user on X, identified as “@psrome89” wrote, “Stupid baby name sorry.” Another user, identified as “@brenda28402,” added, “I said the same thing…what an ugly name.”

When Grimes became aware of this, she came to her son’s defense on the platform. As noted by SoapHub, she replied, “So a few years back (after the exhaustion of COVID) I reconciled my need to hold hateful and unnecessary internet rhetoric accountable, as it ultimately gave way to more negativity. That being said, it takes a consummate a****** to unabashedly respond like this about A BABY.”

Grimes had also discussed how she came up with her son’s name on Soap Opera Digest. As she explained in a statement, “I have sort of a unique name, and my brother and my sisters have unique names, and I just knew I wasn’t going to do something traditional.”

Grimes Explained Her Name-Choosing Process

Grimes also explained her process in picking a name. She also explained that she was drawn to a unique name since that’s common for her family, even herself.

As Grimes explained, “I mean, for as long as I can remember, I’ve had a running name list in the notes app on my phone and I think I had put Bridger on the list at one point. I have sort of a unique name and my brother and sisters have unique names and I just knew I wasn’t going to do something traditional.”

The actress admitted that, beforehand, ”I’ve never really heard of a Bridger.” However, she began to rethink the name when she realized she could use it in part to honor her father.

She explained that, “When I looked up the name, there’s a Bridger, Montana, named after this adventurer and pioneer, and my dad’s from Montana, so I was like, ‘That’s the kind of energy I want for my kid,’ and very quickly Brock and I said, ‘Let’s do it.’ We didn’t hem and haw for too long over it.”

Grimes has played Cassie Newman on The Young and the Restless since 1997 as a child actress. After the character was killed off, Grimes would also being playing the character’s twin sister, Mariah Copeland.
