Michael E. Knight has returned to General Hospital as his character Martin Grey. The character has been hired to defend a character accused of murder. Knight has talked about returning to the show, even admitting to having a crush on one of his cast-mates.

Michael E. Knight Is Happy To Share The Screen With This Special Co-Star

In the ongoing storyline, Michael E. Knight’s character Martin has been hired by Sonny Corinthos to defend Alexis Davis, who has been accused of killing John “Jagger” Cates. In truth, Corinthos is actually to blame for the man’s death.

While talking with Soap Opera Digest, Knight talked about his return to the show. In particular, he talked about what it was like working with Nancy Lee Grahn, who plays Alexis.

Admitting he had a “crush” on her, Knight shared that, “Nancy is wonderful! I mean, how lucky am I? Nancy has forgotten more about doing daytime than most people will ever know. I love her.”

“She’s phenomenal. She’s one of those people where it literally doesn’t matter what the scene [is about] — she’s like playing handball against the wall; it doesn’t matter what you hit, it’s going to come back to you.”

Grahn and Knight use different methods when it comes to working on the show. Knight likes to spend time memorizing his lines. Grahn, on the other hand, is known for quickly remembering her lines on taping day.

“I think I’m annoying to people because I always know my stuff before I come in,” Knight admitted to the publication, saying he learned to do so from Peter Bergman, who he worked with on All My Children.

Knight & Grahn Both Have A Long History In Soaps

Despite their different working styles, Knight has nothing but respect for his co-star’s talent. As he explained, “I would say that she doesn’t need to be [off book], because what Nancy does — Nancy is really, really good with story. Where I’m like, ‘Okay, I say this, then you say this, then I say this, then you say this,’ Nancy really knows the story.”

In addition, Knight admitted that Grahn’s talents would work wonders behind the scenes, too. As he put it, “Nancy would be a great story editor because she will come in and if there is a sour note, if there’s something that doesn’t quite match up to where she knows we should be, because she knows the rhythm of soaps, she knows, ‘Okay, this is what changes from day to day, this is the plot point,’ and if something doesn’t work, she’ll know it!”

As Knight continued, “She’s a joy! And that is the technique she has spent decades creating and I am lucky to be in that orbit. I got no complaints, trust me!”

Knight has had a long career in soaps. One of his best-known roles is arguably that of Tad Martin on All My Children. He also briefly had the recurring role of Simon Neville in The Young and the Restless. Knight first started his role on General Hospital in 2019.

Grahn isn’t a novice to soap operas, either. In addition to her work on General Hospital, she is also known for playing Julia Wainwright Capwell on Santa Barbara. One of her first roles was Beverly Wilkes on One Life to Live.

  1. So, so glad Michael is back! I missed him so much. These new writers better keep him on GH, and give him a big storyline of his own.
