Artem Chigvintsev Speaks Out For First Time After DV Arrest
Former Dancing With The Stars pro Artem Chigvintsev is speaking out for the first time after his arrest on domestic violence charges. After authorities apprehended him on August 29, the dancer remained fairly silent. His wife Nikki Garcia asked for privacy through her representative. This new statement marks a major development in the situation.
Nikki Garcia filed for divorce following the arrest. Now, she and Artem Chigvintsev are working on dissolving their marriage. They’re also working out a custody arrangement for their four-year-old son, Matteo.
See what Artem had to say about the situation.
Artem Chigvintsev Breaks His Silence For The First Time
Nearly four weeks after California authorities arrested Artem Chigvintsev, he’s ready to speak up. Of course, he opted to share a very official-sounding statement, rather than speak from the heart.
“I am incredibly relieved and grateful that the domestic violence charges against me have been dropped,” the Russian dancer officially told E! in a statement. “This has been an extremely difficult time for me. I am thankful that the truth has prevailed.”
Now, the couple will figure out their divorce. But for the time being, Artem feels focused on his son’s health and well-being.
“He is my world, and being his father is the greatest blessing in my life,” he continued. “All along, my main concern has been for him. I am committed to continuing to provide him with the love, support, and care he needs as we move forward. I am hopeful that securing an equal custody arrangement will help us move on.”
The Dancer Won’t Face Criminal Charges For The Indecent
Yesterday, news broke that the Napa County District Attorney would not press criminal charges against Artem Chigvintsev. The domestic violence arrest will likely follow the dancer forever, but he believes this move is a step in the right direction.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to my family, friends, and legal team for standing by me during this challenging time. Your support has been invaluable, and I am thankful to everyone who believed in me and saw the truth for what it was,” Artem Chigvintsev added in his official statement. “I look forward to moving past this chapter and focusing on what truly matters—continue being the best father I can be.”

Artem’s lawyers also expressed gratitude over the DA’s decision.
“Mr. Chigvintsev has maintained his innocence from the beginning. He is grateful that the district attorney accurately assessed what took place, and determined he should not be charged,” the attorneys told TMZ. “[Artem] enjoys tremendous support from the community, and requests privacy for the pending divorce matter. He loves his son, wants the best possible for him, and looks forward to the next chapter in his life professionally and as a father.”
