Nicholas Chavez Reveals Thoughts On The Real Lyle Menendez

The Netflix series about the Menendez family murders stars Javier Bardem as Jose Menendez and Oscar-winning actress Chloë Sevigny as Kitty Menendez. Newcomer Cooper Koch takes on the role of Erik Menendez. GH alum Nicholas Alexander Chavez is getting rave reviews for his performance as Lyle Menendez. GH Star’s Career Taking Off
General Hospital viewers knew actor Nicholas Alexander Chavez was something special. He joined the soap in 2021 as Laura Spencer’s grandson, Spencer Cassadine. He won a Daytime Emmy in the Supporting Actor category in 2022.
The actor took a leave of absence from the ABC soap after getting the role of Lyle Menendez in Season 2 of Netflix’s Monsters series, created by Ryan Murphy. The show “killed” Spencer off to accommodate the temporary exit. However, as his star rose, Nicholas Alexander Chavez decided not to return to daytime TV.
In addition to Monsters, the actor has a starring role in Ryan Murphy’s FX series Grotesquerie. The limited series premieres on September 25. NFL player Travis Kelce makes his acting debut in the series.
Nicholas Alexander Chavez is the internet’s new boyfriend after Monsters came out on Netflix last week. Some even suggest that he could win his first Primetime Emmy for his portrayal of Lyle Menendez.

Nicholas Chavez Reveals If He’s Met The Real Lyle Menendez
Nicholas Alexander Chavez admitted to Entertainment Weekly that he’d never heard of the Menendez brothers or the murder until after he was cast on the Netflix show. The actor was born in 1999, a decade after Lyle and Eric Menendez killed their parents. The case sparked nationwide interest. The brothers were convicted in 1996 after the first trial was deadlocked.
They’re currently serving life sentences in the same prison in California. Kim Kardashian and Cooper Koch, who plays Erik in the Netflix series, recently visited the brothers in prison. Erik Menendez spoke out against the Ryan Murphy series via his wife. Nicholas Alexander Chavez told PEOPLE magazine that he hasn’t met Lyle Menendez.
Why He Sympathizes With The Brothers
Despite not knowing the story of the Menendez family, Nicholas Alexander Chavez said he’s sympathetic to the brothers.
“I really sympathize with the brothers, the fact that this was the most traumatic moment of their life, and then having that put on television for the world to see. I would imagine that would be incredibly heavy.”
Netflix will air a new documentary about the case that includes interview with Lyle and Erik from prison. The Menéndez Brothers premieres on the streamer on Monday, October 7.
