There are innumerable storylines TLC could explore this fall. But more than anything, fans are curious about the possibility of Tammy receiving skin removal surgery.
In the trailer for the new season, Tammy discusses the idea with a doctor. However, there are significant risks and costs involved.
In the teaser, Tammy reveals that she feels insecure with her body due to her excess skin. More than anything, she’d love to have it removed. But the timeline may not be quite what she had envisioned.
“You’ve got head-to-toe loose skin,” the doctor tells her. “It’s going to take several operations and several healing phases.”
After losing more than 500 lbs, Tammy Slaton is no stranger to hard work and long wait times. But the cost could also play a factor.
The Family May Be Unable To Afford The Procedure
FandomWire estimates that Tammy’s skin removal surgeries could cost around $85,000. While it’s entirely possible TLC would cover at least some of the surgery, Tammy and her family could be responsible for the rest of the bill.
Having their own reality show has given the family many opportunities and helped them financially. But before TLC stardom, the family was incredibly poor. As fans have seen on the show, they still live in humble lodgings. The sky-high cost of skin removal surgery may be too much for them to bear.
But even so, 1000-Lb Sisters fans would love to see Tammy get her wish. It may just be a matter of time and fundraising.
