Michael Strahan Makes Huge Announcement, He’s A Grandpa

Good Morning America host Michael Strahan shared the exciting news with fans that he is a new grandpa. He made the announcement during the September 22 Fox NFL Sunday show. He was prompted by his colleague Howie Long to go public with the news. So, he did and shared that his oldest daughter welcomed a baby. Keep reading to find out what is known so far.

Michael Strahan Is A Grandpa

Good Morning America host and former NFL star Michael Strahan has a lot to celebrate these days. Not only does he have an incredible career to be proud of, but his family life is going great as well.

On Fox NFL Sunday, Strahan revealed to the world that his oldest daughter Tanita welcomed her first child making him a grandpa. He said, “Yes! I am a grandfather, everybody.” It was obvious Strahan was excited as he did a double fist hand pump in the air.

He also let everyone know that his daughter is doing fantastic. There were not many details shared but he did share his grandson’s name. Tanita who is 32 years old named her baby boy Onyx. Strahan said, “Onyx is his name—that means ‘black.’”

He went on to say, “It’s really special, because, you know, I know you guys have gone through this and now I’m just happy to be able to join you in that club.” Of course, he was referring to his fellow sportscasters.

Strahan had Tanita and his son Michael Jr. with his first ex-wife, Wanda Hutchins. He also has two other children, twins, Isabella and Sophia.

His Year Is Getting Better And Better

Michael Strahan has a lot to be thankful for. Not only is he a new grandpa but his daughter Isabella is in remission from cancer. She first found out she had cancer after just a few months of attending her first year of college. She had been diagnosed with medulloblastoma, which is a malignant brain tumor.

Isabella faced multiple surgeries and chemotherapy. Isabella finished treatment this summer and found out in July that currently, she is cancer-free. She is attending college now that she’s healthy.

Michael Strahan has made it known to the world that family is the most important thing to him. He has been a good support system for his daughter and loves all his children dearly.
