Kim Kardashian Visits Menendez Brothers In Prison
Kim Kardashian has been very open about her passion for prison reform lately. Now, she’s not only talking to the Menendez brothers, but she also brought along the actor who plays one of the brothers on the Netflix show, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Keep reading to find out more on what happened.
Kim Kardashian talks to the Menendez brothers
Erik and Lyle Menendez are brothers who fatally shot and killed their parents in 1989. At the time, they were convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. The brothers insist that their crimes were committed out of fear from a lifetime of abuse. However, they have still been serving life in prison without the chance for parole.
Now, they got a visit from The Kardashians star, Kim Kardashian.
Kim frequently visits prisons to speak to prisoners and try to help with prison reform. This time, she visited the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility to speak with their prisoners. Lyle and Erik were included in that group of people.
She was joined on the visit by her family, Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner. That’s not all though. She was also joined by Scott Budnick, Producer of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story on Netflix along with Cooper Koch who plays Erik in the show Variety reports.
Hitting Close To Home
As it turns out, Kim has a decent connection to both the case and the show. Not only did Kim live down the road from the house in which the crime happened, but she also starred in American Horror Story which was directed by Ryan Murphy – the same person who directed Monsters. Because of this, earlier this year, Kim was able to sit down with another star of the show and discuss her role as Kitty Menendez. Kitty was the mother to Lyle and Erik who was murdered by her sons.
Kim revealed during this sit-down that the whole case hits close to home as she remembers it happening.
“I grew up right down the street from the house that all happened in, and everyone went to the same schools. I remember hearing about that case. But my dad drove me by the house and told me the story. And he had been in the house,” Kim says.
Not A Fan Of Monsters
Unfortunately, the Menendez brothers are not a fan of the Netflix show. Erik slammed it pretty hard saying that it included “ruinous character portrayals” of himself and his brother.
Erik posted a statement on X through his wife’s account writing:
“It is with a heavy heart that I say, I believe Ryan Murphy cannot be this naive and inaccurate about the facts of our lives so as to do this without bad intent,” he writes.
