Kelly Ripa Reveals She Wasn’t Ready To Say Goodbye
On LIVE With Kelly and Mark, Kelly Ripa explained a recent episode was going to be both a happy and sad time. Kelly revealed she wasn’t ready to say goodbye as she remembered days gone by. What happened that led to her sad moment? Keep reading to find out more.
Ripa Described The Day As A ‘Devastating’ One
During the week’s final episode, Kelly Ripa explained that series producer Art Moore would be leaving the series. The show was meant to honor veteran producer Art Moore’s last day on the series. The ensuing episode was filled with tributes to Moore, complete with a toast. She explained to the audience that, “It’s a day for celebration, a day for joy, and personally for us on the studio floor, a devastating day. It is a day we are celebrating Art Moore’s retirement.”
While raising a glass of sparkling cider, Ripa added, “I don’t know where to begin but I will say, this is not us saying goodbye to you. We will never say goodbye to you, as you know.”
“You have been the singular most important person to every single person here. As evidenced by the amount of people that you work with each and every day who love, honor and cherish you and everything you have given to us. You are a giver and we honor you and shower you with our gratitude and love, eternally.”
Moore’s retirement plans were announced back in May, notably sharing the news on Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ wedding anniversary. Ripa had joked that she and Consuelos chose to get married in May somehow knowing it would be Moore’s special anniversary date. Moore had previously had a retirement party on September 19.
Moore’s Career Has Spanned Decades
Other members of the show paid tribute to Moore. Co-host Mark Consuelos, announcer Deja Vu, and producer Michael Gelman also raised glasses to him. He also received gifts and surprises, like a cake with an edible photo.
Moore was welcomed on the set for an interview, where Consuelos noted he’d been at the company for 53 years. Clips were also played of Moore appearing on the show throughout the years, all set to Britney Spears’ “Gimme More,” Andrea True Connection’s “More, More, More,” and Lady Gaga’s “Applause.”
On a more serious note, Ripa said that Moore was a big reason she’s stayed on the show. She also joked that she would somehow be able to convince Moore to change his mind and come back. As she explained, “I’m convinced that over the next several months, I will be able to talk Art out of retirement, joking she was “relentless.”
Clips of the episode were also uploaded to the show’s official Instagram account. This allowed fans to share how much they would miss Moore, especially times he appeared on the show.
