‘Live’ Kelly Ripa Talks Retirement Ahead Of Major Shakeups
Live with Kelly and Mark is entering a new era and Kelly Ripa is contemplating her future on the talk show. Many of the long-time employees who have shaped the show for decades are leaving, and Kelly is thinking about going with them. Is she planning on leaving soon? Here’s what she has said.
Many People On Live Are Reaching Retirement Age
There is no doubt that Live with Kelly and Mark is undergoing a lot of changes right now. Over the years, Kelly Ripa has assembled the perfect team for the talk show. Each person has played a significant role in keeping the live morning show going.
Now, many of those individuals are reaching retirement age. So, there will likely be some shakeups in the way things are handled on Live moving forward.
Earlier this year, Disney paid tribute to Michael Gelman, Live‘s executive producer. He has been with the company and involved with the show, for 40 years now.
The event also honored Kelly for her years on the talk show. She first took a seat at the table next to Regis Philbin in 2001.
While Gelman isn’t going anywhere, another member of the Live family is retiring. Kelly Ripa is reportedly devastated by the news. Art Moore, who has led production on the talk show, is retiring. He has spent 36 years on the show and 53 years with the network.
Kelly Ripa Says She’d Rather Retire Than Do Live Without Art
As Kelly and Mark Consuelos came out onstage this week, Kelly rushed over to Art to give him a hug. She was visibly holding back tears. Later, it was revealed that it would be his last day on set. The Live host couldn’t walk past him without stopping to embrace him.
Her husband Mark said he thought he “lost” Kelly for a second as she veered off stage to see Art. Apparently, Kelly Ripa has been hinting at retiring after Art leaves. She has been vocal about her sadness regarding Art’s retirement.
Art Moore has undoubtedly been a significant person in Kelly’s work life for 23 years. She said that it was a “day for celebration, a day for joy, but a personally devastating day” all the same.
Both Kelly and Mark have been celebrating Art’s retirement throughout the week. There was a midweek party that gave everyone a chance to say goodbye to him. Kelly Ripa shared a snapshot from the event on her Instagram feed.

On the show, they have been honoring Art’s contributions all week. A recent episode featured a segment titled Fare Thee Well Art Moore.
However, the celebrations haven’t eased the pain for the Live host. She’s been taking the loss pretty hard and has even talked about retiring rather than doing the show without Art.
There will undoubtedly be some changes on Live following Art’s departure. He has been a fixture on the show for decades. As a new showrunner takes his place, it will be interesting to see how things change.
