‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Low Ratings May Bring Pat Sajak Back As Host
Low ratings might just cost Ryan Seacrest his new hosting job on Wheel of Fortune. Seacrest shouldn’t be in danger just yet, but a few things suggest things could turn. Allegedly, there could even be interest in bringing back a familiar face to take back the reigns: Pat Sajak himself.
Rival Shows Might Take An Interest In Getting Sajak
Seacrest took on the role from Sajak, who retired from the show in June 2024.
That said, Sajak might have left his hosting duties, but he didn’t leave the show completely. Sajak still remains on Wheel of Fortune as a consultant.
However, his hosting days might not be at an end. Allegedly, a few shows are interested in bringing him on as a new host.
According to The U.S. Sun, a source claimed that, “The elephant in the room here is that Pat is healthy, sharp, and still has this massive international following.”
“People love having him in their living rooms every night over dinner, and that hasn’t really changed just because he’s left behind ‘Wheel.’
“Pat is very aware that he could walk into CBS or NBC and have his pick of primetime game shows to host. Everybody in the executive class knows him and everybody likes him.”
That said, the source also pointed out that Sajak’s consultant job would probably keep him from leaving Wheel of Fortune for a rival show.
In fact, the source suggested another reason the show would want to keep Sajak close. After all, there’s always the possibility he could return to his hosting duties on Wheel of Fortune.
Seacrest Should Be Safe, But The Pressure Is On
The source noted that, “Of course, Pat lingering around also has the added benefit of keeping Ryan in line and focused on maintaining the show’s decades of ratings success.”
“A serious slip in the numbers could prompt a panic that puts Pat back in the hosting seat.”
That said, ratings have actually been good for Seacrest so far, meaning he shouldn’t be in danger of being replaced.
According to Deadline, his first show brought in a 4.62 household rating. This was notably a 57% increase from the previous season’s premiere.
However, fans don’t seem too happy with Seacrest. As was previously reported, Seacrest came under fire after a contestant had a chance at a $1 million prize, risked it, and ended up bankrupt.
Fans noted Seacrest didn’t clearly explain how much the contestant was risking, with many pointing out that Sajak usually would in similar situations.
Likewise, Sajak hasn’t been completely forgotten. After all, he was the winner of the Outstanding Game Show Host Emmy Award. As the source noted, “It’s a sign that people still want Pat on TV, big time.”
“Even with the press around his departure from the show, nobody at Sony really saw that coming and it has to put even more pressure on Ryan not to screw up this assignment!”
