Josh Boone To Direct & Allison Williams To Star 2019 Bestseller

Paramount Pictures has announced plans to adapt the 2019 bestseller, Colleen Hoover’s Regretting You. Josh Boone is set to direct and Allison Williams is set to star in the film. It’s believed the studio wants to replicate the success of It Ends with Us.

Hoover’s Work Has Already Proved Successful At The Movies

Regretting You revolves around the fallout of a tragedy. Morgan Grant wants her daughter Clara to avoid the mistakes she made in life while her husband Chris plays peacemaker. Things take a turn, however, when Chris gets involved in an accident, leaving Morgan and Clara to rebuild.

Hoover’s work has already proven to be a potential hit maker. Her 2016 book It Ends with Us saw a film adaptation in 2024, which proved to be a sleeper hit. The film also notably featured Blake Lively, Brandon Sklenar, and Justin Baldoni, who also served as a director. There has also been interest in adapting the book’s sequel, It Starts with Us.

According to Deadline, a lot of prominent names are attached to the film, both on and off the screen.

Josh Boone is attached as an upcoming film director. Boone is arguably best known for directing The Fault in Our Stars, which was based on the book of the same name. Having worked on a variety of projects, he also served as a writer and director for the romantic comedy Stuck in Love and the superhero horror film The New Mutants. He also served as a writer for The Pretenders and All We Had.

A Lot Of Names Have Been Cast For The Upcoming Film

Allison Williams is attached to the movie and is believed to be cast as Morgan Grant. For many, Williams’ breakout role had been as Marnie Michaels in HBO’s Girls. However, she has also developed a reputation as a scream queen, appearing in horror films like Get Out, The Perfection, and M3GAN.

Actress Mckenna Grace is expected to play Clara in the upcoming film. An actress and singer, Grace is known for her roles in I, Tonya, Captain Marvel, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife, as well the sequel, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. She is also known for playing Esther Keyes in The Handmaid’s Tale. Soap opera fans may also remember her as Faith Newman in The Young and the Restless.

Rounding out the cast, as noted by IMDB, Dave Franco has been cast as “Jonah” and Mason Thames has been cast in the role of “Miller Adams.” Franco, brother of actor and filmmaker James Franco, is best known for The Disaster Artist, Neighbors, and 21 Jump Street. Thames is also known for playing Finney in The Black Phone.
