‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Fans Say Ryan Seacrest Cost Player $1M
Ryan Seacrest took over as the Wheel of Fortune host last week. His first week was a huge success. However, at the same time, there were fans online who nitpicked his performance and pointed out every mistake he made. One of the moments that fans pointed out was when he might have cost a player a $1 million prize.
Here is a look at what happened on the show and why fans blamed Seacrest for the Wheel of Fortune incident.
Did Ryan Seacrest Cost A Player $1 Million?
Last week was Ryan Seacrest’s debut as the Wheel of Fortune host. During that week, he faced critics who claimed that he cost a player a $1 million prize. This was an episode in which a contestant named Airica had a chance at a million-dollar payday.
During the episode, Airica spun the wheel and landed on the $1 million wedge. This could have been swapped out for a $100,000 wedge in the bonus round, which means she could have won the big prize if she had won the game. She then solved the first puzzle, landed on a $1,000 mystery wedge, and could unveil or leave it.
The contestant chose a “T,” and Seacrest said she either earned the two T’s and got $2,000, or she could risk it to see what was on the other side. “It could be a bankrupt or it could be $10,000,” Seacrest said. She chose to risk it, and Seacrest said he had to take it and the million-dollar wedge.
It was a bad decision, as she flipped the $1,000 wedge, and it was a bankruptcy.
Fans Say Ryan Seacrest Wasn’t A Good Host In This Instance
The problem is that Ryan Seacrest never said she would lose the million-dollar wedge if she risked the $1,000 wedge. Fans felt that Pat Sajak would have explained what was being risked more clearly before she made her decision.
- “Pat would’ve explained that if she took the risk, she would’ve lost the million-dollar wedge.”
- “He didn’t help the poor woman reminding her she had a million on a mystery wedge.”
- “Pat would always remind the contestants if they look under the $10,000 they could lose their $1 million wedge. Ryan needs to do this too.”
However, despite all the complaints about Ryan Seacrest from fans online, Wheel of Fortune was a huge success. After ratings dropped over the summer for the game show, Seacrest’s first week on the show had massive ratings. The premiere had over 4.62 million viewers watching, 47% more than last season’s debut with Pat Sajak.
