Hallmark Mystery’s ‘Cases Of Mystery Lane’: When Is Third Movie Coming Out?
On Friday, Hallmark Mystery premiered The Cases Of Mystery Lane: Death Is Listening. This mystery series stars Lucifer star Aimee Garcia and Paul Campbell, along with Matt Hamilton, who is also fantastic. While the mystery was eventually solved, there was a crazy cliffhanger at the end of the movie. This is something that will turn Birdie Case’s world around. When will there be a third Cases of Mystery Lane?
Here is what we know. Please note that there are spoilers for anyone who has not seen the second Cases Of Mystery Lane movie.
When Will Hallmark Mystery Release The Third Cases Of Mystery Lane Movie?
On Friday the 13th, Hallmark Mystery premiered the second movie in The Cases Of Mystery Lane series. This new movie is called Death Is Listening. This mystery stars Aimee Garcia and Paul Campbell as Birdie and Alden Case who are now private investigators. Along with Officer Tom Newton (Matt Hamilton), the Cases solve the murder of a podcaster. However, at the end of the mystery there is a cliffhanger.
At the end of the mystery, FBI officers show up at the Case home. They ask Birdie when was the last time she saw her father. She points out that he died when she was six. The officer responds, “That’s not entirely true.” Then asks if they could come inside, and the movie ended!
What a ciiffhanger! For nearly two movies, the very organized and draw within the lines Birdie Case finds out that her father is alive. Her world is now turned upside down. Has her mother been lying about her father? There are so many questions.
Obviously, the first question is when the network will release the third movie in the series. However, when Paul and Aimee were recently interviewed by the Hallmark Mysteries & More podcast, they shared that they wanted to make a third movie. However, one has not been greenlit.
In addition, it was not long after this interview was released that Deadline reported that Aimee Garcia will have a recurring role in the upcoming Season 3 of Criminal Minds: Evolution. This is described as a “multiple-episode arc.” Therefore, it doesn’t sound like the Dexter alum has a two-week opening in her schedule anytime soon. This third movie may not happen for a while.
Network Talked About Three Movies To Test Mystery Series
It has been a long time since Hallmark Mystery has made a second movie in a series. This year alone, they released eight new one-of mysteries, with no sequels in sight. Last year, Cases was one of seven new mysteries introduced. Death is Listening is one of two new mysteries that got a sequel. The second is Jodie Sweetin and Stephen Hussar’s The Jane Mysteries: A Deadly Prescription which also premiered this week, but on Hallmark+, the rebranded streaming service. There are two more of this series premiering this month.
Will Hallmark make a third Cases Of Mystery Lane movie?
A few months ago, Hallmark Mysteries & More podcast spoke to Hallmark’s EVP of Programming, Lisa Hamilton Daly. She revealed that when a mystery has three movies, the audience dramatically increases. Therefore, the goal is to get more mysteries to that sweet spot. Moreover, she also expressed a particular love of this series.
So, hopefully, this means that there is a chance. But, as always, audience numbers could dictate a third movie.

The cliffhanger was exciting, but honestly? I also have the fear that we will be left hanging as they did with the last Mystery 101.
I really wanted to like this series, but there were some things that were hard to overlook.
The first and most important is the lack of romantic chemistry between the leads. They seem more like best buds than they do lovers, and their lack of affection supports that. They didn’t even give each other the “look of love.”
I also had trouble with the “husband” being such a weak character. Is that by design? He doesn’t need to be a macho-macho man, but he was so annoying that I wanted to reach through the screen to shake him. I don’t do rodents, either, but come on! If you’re that afraid, you don’t prevent the exterminator from coming in!
I’ve watched these first two movies and think the characters are interesting and charming, as are the plot lines! Good job done by both the writers and cast!
