‘Welcome To Plathville’ Lydia Plath Gets Backlash For Being ‘Fake’

Lydia Plath - Welcome To Plathville

While Welcome To Plathville has followed Lydia Plath’s journey along with her family since its premiere in November 2019, now fans are pushing back. When fans think of Lydia, she is inseparable from her faith. But now she is getting backlash for being “fake.”

Lydia Plath Is Coming Into Her Own

Undeniably, the Welcome To Plathville family was raised differently than many mainstream Americans. But even among the Plaths, Lydia Plath has been depicted as a devout follower of Christ who often draws away to pray and find peace when the drama is storming in the family. Throughout the seasons, Lydia has time and time again shown her genuine love for the values instilled in her fundamental Christian upbringing. Oftentimes, she was heavily relied on by the family to help raise her younger siblings. Seemingly, having a heart of gold, she is kind and compassionate with a gentle spirit. Even when rebelling against her parent’s rules on talking to a boy, she was quickly steered back to the teachings of Kim and Barry Plath’s rearing.

Earlier in Season 6, she showed growth in her personal preferences. She was hanging out with her sister Moriah Plath. Without a doubt, she is growing up and coming into her own beliefs as she experiments more outside of the Plath family. Together they spoke about attending college and spreading their wings. But both also appreciated the simplicity of returning home and finding comfort in being near family. However, some fans are calling out Lydia for being “fake” and misleading.

Lydia Plath Gets Backlash For Being ‘Fake’

On Reddit, Welcome To Plathville fans discuss Lydia Plath and a big shift in her personal life. First, someone says, “Lydia changed her Instagram subscription option.” Then, they add, “Originally it was free and I was subscribed but after her fake engagement bait post yesterday and said she has an announcement soon, she made the subscription $5 a month.” While it isn’t uncommon for celebrities to offer a subscription service to entice fans to learn information not widely released, fans think Lydia was disingenuous with a “fake bait.” Recently, Lydia posted an exclusive but vague message about an upcoming announcement. In the photo, she held hands with someone leading many people to speculate it was a tease for an engagement. Although she didn’t say what the announcement would be about, it was easy to jump to conclusions with the context clues.

More Fans Comment About Lydia Plath’s Message

  • Someone personally jabs at Lydia Plath, “I don’t mean to be rude or anything… but anytime I watch this chick talk it just seems like she’s very vacant. Like there’s little moths fluttering in her head. I guess that helps when buying into a cult.”
  • Additionally, someone else sarcastically says, “‘I’m off to church!’ And that’s pretty much a summary.”
  • One commenter criticizes, “Did she also say why anyone would want to pay to follow her life when watching paint dry is still free?”

  • “She could work with Kim k!!!! That’s how she got here start! 😉.”

She Dispels Rumors

While Lydia Plath is keeping some cards close to her chest, she still wants to set the record straight about the engagement. On her Instagram Stories, she later posted a video to dispel the rumors by clarifying she was wearing a promise ring on her right hand. But for now, the “big news” is only for paying customers. She originally steered people to essentially hurry up and subscribe so they didn’t miss out on the announcement.

  • “Oooh, I hadn’t yet heard that it was clickbait. I just saw that she said something about how life can change in a couple of weeks, and she posted a photo of presumably her hand with a ring on it. What was the actual ‘big news’?”
