‘Teen Mom’ Amber Portwood Cracks Over Murder Allegations

Teen Mom star, Amber Portwood cracked over murder allegations regarding her then-fiance, Gary Wayt, and his disappearance. He had gone missing in June 2024, a short time after the couple became engaged. This all played out in the Thursday, September 12th finale of The Next Chapter. So, what did Amber have to say and who was her core support? Keep reading for all of the details.

Amber Portwood Cracks Over Murder Allegations

Shortly after the new season of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter began, Amber Portwood introduced her new man, Gary Wayt. The girls jokingly referred to him as ‘Gary 2.0’ given that Amber’s baby daddy’s name was also Gary. They seemed very happy and he even attended therapy with her. He needed to learn how to handle her manic episodes and the fact that he cared to do so meant a lot to Amber. Gary ended up proposing in front of co-stars, Maci Bookout and Catelyn Lowell who have always been very protective of Amber.

They were fearful of Amber’s daughter, Leah being adopted by her stepmother, Kristina as they had no idea how it would impact Amber’s mental health. Cate and Maci went so far as to talk to Leah’s father, Gary Shirley about the implications and how he needed to consider Amber, as well. Little did everyone know things were about to get so much worse. In the season finale, Gary and Amber went to her brother’s wedding in North Carolina. Then, he disappeared and there was a massive search for him.

Some started to speculate that she had hurt him which hurt her to no end. According to OK!, Amber Portwood was devastated when he was not only found but did not even reach out to her. She headed to her psychiatrist’s office where she broke down completely to both the executive producer and her doctor. Amber shared that no other man broke her but him:

“This man broke me. I was stable. Right now, this is the first time in years in my life — I am 34 — I am not f—— right because a man put a ring on my finger. “You broke me because we were actually in love.

It was also hard to have people accusing her of hurting or even killing him:

“The day that man left for no reason — I’m going to say no reason because there was no f—— reason — he ruined something so f—— good. Why am I getting persecuted? Why am I getting persecuted? ‘We know Amber killed him.’ I had to deal with that. Do you know how that feels when people are calling you a murderer to your f—— fiancé?”

Now That Fans Have Seen It…

Teen Mom fans finally got to see this play out after hearing and reading about Gary Wayt disappearing. So, it was a whole new ballgame. They did see that Maci Bookout got in touch with Catelynn Lowell after she read the news and immediately headed to where Amber Portwood was.

Amber is immensely lucky to have the support of her co-stars but the same cannot be said of the viewers:
