Nikki Garcia, formerly known as Nikki Bella, isn’t opening up about her divorce anytime soon.
Only a day after filing for divorce from Artem Chigvintsev, Nikki’s representative told the media she wants privacy as her family handles this sensitive matter. Read on to see what was said.
Nikki Garcia’s Rep Confirms Her Divorce & Requests Privacy
Immediately following Artem Chigvintsev’s arrest, Nikki Garcia asked for privacy through her representative. Silence seems to be her official position moving forward. Though many moments of her personal life have been public, she wants to keep this delicate situation under wraps for now.
Immediately after the arrest took place, fans began speculating that Artem and Nikki would likely end their marriage. Now, that appears to be true.
Social media rumors are one thing, but PEOPLE shared Nikki Garcia was pursuing a divorce. A representative confirmed the news and also issued a statement on her behalf.
“She continues to ask for privacy for her and her family at this time,” the representative told the publication. So far, Artem’s representative has not issued a public statement.

Court documents obtained by PEOPLE indicate Nikki filed for divorce on Wednesday, September 11. Considering how quickly the situation unfolded, it probably won’t be long before she is legally a single woman.
Although the situation is incredibly difficult, Nikki may choose to open up in time. She’s been very open and honest with her fans throughout her history in the spotlight.
What Happens From Here?
As with any divorce, Nikki Garcia and Artem Chigvintsev will have to figure out how to divide their assets. They own a home together in Napa Valley, California, as well as numerous things they purchased together during their marriage.
The tricky situation is figuring out custody for their four-year-old son, Matteo.
During Total Bellas Season 6, Nikki and Artem actually discussed custody of their son if they should ever end their relationship.
“Matteo would come with me because I’m the mother,” Nikki firmly said in the episode. It’s unknown if her feelings on the matter changed, but it isn’t likely.
However, those who follow Artem Chigvintsev on Instagram also know that he’s an incredibly dedicated father and adores parenthood. More than likely, he will fight to get primary custody of Matteo. But given his domestic violence charges, courts may very well grant primary custody to Nikki.
Celebrity divorces are often incredibly complex and it seems like this is shaping up to play out in a similar manner. At this point in time, fans hope they can do what’s best for their son.
