‘DWTS’ Jenna Johnson Talks Competing Against Val Chmerkovskiy
Working with a spouse can come with its own share of challenges. But competing on a dance show with your spouse can be an entirely different battle. For Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy, this is their reality each and every fall.
So how does the couple manage their marriage while facing off against each other? See what Jenna had to say about the situation and how she really feels about competing with Val.
Jenna Johnson Dishes On Competing Against Her Husband
Both Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson are fan favorites on Dancing With The Stars. Both are fiercely competitive and at least one of them usually makes it to the finale each season. Val is the current reigning champion and both dancers want to win Season 33 too.
This year, Jenna is partnered with The Bachelor star Joey Graziadei while Val is with The Real Housewives star Phaedra Parks. At this point in the competition, anyone could win.
But does the competition come between Val and Jenna at home?
“It’s been part of our relationship since the beginning. We met on the show, and then we’ve always competed against each other,” Jenna told First For Women. “He is by far my number one cheerleader, and vice versa. I love watching him do his thing on the dance floor. It makes me so proud, and obviously so attracted to him, getting to see him excel and be his best, and I’m excited to see what he gets to do this season. He’s paired with Phaedra Parks, and she is incredible and such a character, so I think their relationship will be really fun to watch.”
The Married Couple Headed To The Emmys This Month
Recently, Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson received an Emmy nomination for their stunning choreography work on Dancing With The Stars. Sadly, they didn’t win. But they’re not letting their loss get in the way of their creativity.
“We didn’t win tonight, but what an honor it was to be in that room. Congrats to Karla Garcia and to all of the nominees. Till next time 🏆 #emmys,” Val wrote on Instagram after the ceremony. “Also, I just love you so much @jennajohnson ❤️ my trophy, my joy, my peace. Wanted this for you more than anything. But we’ll do it again.”
“Art is endless.. let’s keeping making it 💘💘” Jenna wrote back.
