America’s Got Talent fans demand an age limit after Pranysqa Mishra’s struggle in her recent performance. Mishra’s voice is blowing both the audience and the judges away. However, when a ten-year-old has to do the same things as a 28-year-old adult to prepare for AGT performances, fans start to worry about the health and safety of these children.

AGT Pushes Boundaries

America’s Got Talent is one of the most popular competitions on air as it is in its 19th season. The show features four judges who listen/watch performers ranging from singing to magic to comedians to math. AGT can be watched Tuesdays and Wednesdays on NBC at 8 pm EST.

Contestants need at least three yes’ to move forward and if they are lucky enough to get the golden buzzer, they move to the live show automatically regardless of the opinions of other judges. If contestants get more than one red “x,” they’re eliminated.

The current judges for AGT are Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell. They have all been judges for at least five seasons.

There are strict rules to be in the famous talented competition. One rule is to wake up at 6 am and film around the clock which may be okay for young adults, but probably not ideal for elementary school students.

Should There Be An Age Limit?

Due to the rules and regulations, fans believe that a minimum age limit should be put into place at AGT. This has been especially coming up due to the presence of a talented performer, ten-year-old, Pranysqa Mishra.

Mishra was blessed with Heidi Klum’s Golden Buzzer from her audition this season, Season 19. Each judge praised Mishra for her performance. Howie Mandel explained that she had, “the voice of an angel.” Simon Cowell remarked that the future star was “gutsy, gutsy, gutsy.”

Things didn’t seem to stay perfect for long as Mishra struggled through her ‘High Hopes’ performance during the AGT September 11th episode. Mishra was off-key and her high notes were not sounding as full as they could’ve been. Her voice also sounded a little shaky. This was a disappointing performance for her considering it was the semi-finals.

Though it is suggested to wait until children get older to go on shows like this, it’s understandable when parents want to show off their child’s immaculate talent to the world.

The age range of contestants on AGT is quite astounding. The oldest competitor was 88-year-old Burlesque dancer, Penny Starr Sr., and the youngest was two-year-old Devan who stunned the world with his highly advanced math knowledge despite his young age.

Children must be accompanied by an adult, but that doesn’t make any of the stressful preparation too much easier. However, Bianca Ryan proved that kids can do anything adults can by winning the first season of AGT.
