The classic soap opera, All My Children, is to receive a revival as a series of television-movies on Lifetime. This also isn’t the first time the series had been revived over the years. In fact, there’s a few different ways the show’s legacy already lives on.

Fans Can Visit Pine Valley For The Holidays

TVLine first broke the news that Lifetime reportedly interested in a possible revival of the series through a TV-movie franchise. Lifetime later confirmed the report to the publication, saying two possible television movies were in development. Both of them will have a holiday theme.

In a statement with Deadline, a Lifetime spokesperson confirmed a title of one of the films in early development as Christmas In Pine Valley. As the title confirms, the story, much like the original soap, will take place in Pine Valley, Pennsylvania. At this time, however, it’s unclear which characters will appear in the film.

The project is especially fitting for Lifetime, as the network has become known for its television-movies over the years. This is especially true for the channel’s holiday specials.

The original long-running series, created by Agnes Nixon, revolved around life in the East Coast suburb. One of its most central characters was Erica Kane, as famously played by Susan Lucci, who remained on the show until its final broadcast episode in 2011.

Over the years, Erica Kane has been considered one of the most famous characters in Western daytime television history. The role also made Lucci an iconic soap star.

There Have Been Other Attempts To Revive The Show

The ABC run of the series lasted from 1970 to 2011. In 2013, however, the series had a brief revival, with thirty-minute episodes streaming on The OnLine Network. This run lasted from April 29 to September 2 of that year.

The Walt Disney Company had previously shown interest in reviving the series over the years. Back in 2020, ABC had announced plans to develop a sequel series, Pine Valley, which would have focused on a young reporter wanting to uncover the town’s past.

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, who both appeared in the original series, were attached to develop, and possibly appear in the possible spin-off. Leo Richardson, known for working on the British soap EastEnders, was also attached to the project. However, the project has not moved forward.

Interestingly, All My Children manages to live on through other ways. General Hospital, for example, brought on Walt Willey to reprise his All My Children character Jackson Montgomery for a five-episode arc back in 2023.
