Survivor 47 introduced its cast and is about to start the season. In addition to introducing the new cast members, the show has also made some news about one of its challenges. One specific task will not happen in Season 47.

Here is a look at the changes coming to Survivor 47.

Survivor 47 Removing One Of The Challenge Tasks

Survivor 47 will return in September 2024. However, one task that has been part of the show recently will not happen this year. According to reports, one of the regular features of the new era seasons will not happen and is being replaced by something else.

One of the tasks in the new era is Sweat vs. Savvy. This task has been part of the first six seasons of the new era. The two losing tribes at the opening marooning challenge had to complete one of two tasks. These are either the “Sweat” or “Savvy” tasks. It is the only way to get their basic camp supplies.

The Sweat task involves some form of taxing physical labor the contestants have to complete in a certain amount of time. The Savvy challenge is a brain teaser of some sort. There were different versions of Sweet vs. Savvy. One example came from Season 44, which saw two tribes compete in both tasks.

This is not going to happen in the 47th season.

Jeff Probst said, “We’ve evolved Sweat vs. Savvy into something a little different this season” (via Entertainment Weekly).

What Is Happening In Survivor 47?

Survivor 47 premieres on September 18 on CBS. The new cast includes several fresh faces, including two podcast hosts and a former beauty queen. As for the Sweet vs. Savvy tasks, Jeff said that it will look very different for the new cast.

“It’s the same goal, which is to earn tribe supplies for your camp, but the method for doing it is very different,” Jeff said. “It’s a nice, fresh idea. It’s fun to watch, very fun for the player to do.”

According to Jeff, the recent changes are a way to ensure that the reality competition series has a strong future. The host said he wants kids to watch the show and want to play the game someday themselves. He said the new format is a way to get the kids to say, “I want to do that! It all looks fun. It’s kind of Indiana Jones-esque.”

“Now, you as the player have to achieve the goal or you come back a failure,” Jeff said. “And one of the tenets of the new era, if you really examine it thoroughly, is that it’s always a player’s choice of what they want to do.”
