The lucky part was that he didn’t suffer any broken bones; it was all intense bruising. He also was wearing his helmet, which he said saved his life. He said he has been riding his bike and competing in Ironman races for a decade to stay in shape. This is part of his new interview with Men’s Health Magazine.

In the Men’s Health interview, Ramsay said he hit a “crater-like pothole.” This threw him off his bike, and that is how he suffered the injuries. Ramsay said his bike spun 180 degrees around when he hit the pothole. He said he tried to get up after the fall but realized something was wrong.

His helmet was cracked open, and he had blurry vision. He then saw he was covered in blood. “I honestly thought I was going to pass out,” Ramsay said. He called his assistant, Justin Mandel, and Justin helped get him an ambulance. Ramsay had CT scans done, and they showed he had no broken bones.

He then needed to have daily lymphatic drainage treatments and physiotherapy for his wounds. Despite staying in great shape, Ramsay said his injuries made him feel like a “95-year-old man.” He even needed his assistant to help him get dressed.

  1. Damn .. just from the description I KNOW that hurt! I’m glad the God didn’t decide it was your time. Selfish I know, but I enjoy the hell out of your shows and I love the way you surprise some of the kids. Or when you go off on an overbearing boss that only brings the start-up, but thinks he’s the one running the kitchen!
Looking good .. watch out for those potholes from hell .. they’ll keep trying to get you! 😉
