Meghan McCain Reveals Why She Turned Down ‘DWTS’
Dancing With the Stars is known for the celebrity contestants that give the show its name. However, one media personality, Meghan McCain, has revealed she’s turned down an offer to appear on the show. In fact, she says she was approached three different times, asking to appear on the show.
McCain Gave Two Reasons Against Appearing On The Show
McCain revealed this on her podcast, Citizen McCain, where she revealed she turned down three different offers to appear on the show.
Meghan McCain is the daughter of late politician John McCain, causing her to be a public figure for most of her life. However, she’s also garnered attention as a blogger, such the blog, McCain Blogette. She is also well-known as a co-host on the talk show, The View.
McCain’s explanation was two-fold, saying, “I just don’t want to publicly humiliate myself.”
“I’m a terrible dancer and I don’t do reality TV. The amount of reality TV I’ve been asked to do would blow your mind. I’m always like, what about my personality says I’d be good on these kind of platforms? I’m pretty shy in person. I’d be awful.”
As she continued, she’s also concerned what a stint on reality television would do if she followed her parents’ footsteps into politics. As she explained, “I do not do reality TV, because there’s still a tiny little window in my life that I want to run for office at some point, and you can’t do both. You just can’t. It’s just not serious.”
McCain Revealed That These Shows Paid Well
However, she did mention one thing that does entice her about these shows: the pay. On asking if she would reconsider, she mused, “Come to me if I’m starving in the street and I’ve had some financial issues, but, I’m fine.”
McCain also noted that her friend Clay Aiken once told her how much he made on The Masked Singer. While she wouldn’t divulge just how much the show pays, citing lack of permission, she claimed she “wouldn’t have to work for a year” if she joined the show.
McCain also revealed that she was also offered a position on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. Patterned off the British series SAS: Who Dares Wins, the series places contestants in training courses replicating those used by the United States Special Forces.
However, McCain felt that, “It’s like I need to learn how to sing or dance. I need to develop a skill, a talent.”
