Brittany Cartwright Opens Up About ‘Painful’ Divorce
The Valley star Brittany Cartwright is speaking out about her “painful” divorce filing from estranged husband, Jax Taylor. She just filed the papers on August 27th though they have been separated since January 2024. Though the hope was they could reconcile, that sadly did not happen. Now, Brittany is sharing all of her thoughts and feelings on what has transpired. Keep reading for all of the details.
Brittany Cartwright Opens Up About ‘Painful’ Divorce
When Brittany Cartwright was first with Jax Taylor, she had no idea what she was getting into. Shortly after she moved from Kentucky to California, they went to Hawaii with his Vanderpump Rules co-stars. He was then arrested for stealing sunglasses and it was all downhill from there. Jax was back and forth about their relationship, he did not know if he wanted to get married, and he cheated on Brittany with Faith Stowers. He had lied, cheated, and stolen so the girls warned Brittany but, in the end, she accepted his proposal and they tied the knot in 2019.
It looked like they were doing okay, they welcomed a son, Cruz, and appeared to be happy. Yet, looks can be deceiving and Brittany would eventually reveal that there was a lot that Jax needed to do in order for the marriage to work. They landed a Vanderpump spinoff, The Valley, and shortly before the premiere, announced their separation. There was some hope that he would do what was needed for them to come back together but now it is over. So, what does Brittany have to say now that she pulled the trigger and filed?
According to Us Weekly, she spoke out on her podcast, When Reality Hits, and started with how hard Season 2 has been. Brittany did make it clear that there is a lot that she cannot say:
“It’s been a big week. I, unfortunately, can’t speak to details since everything has been heavily documented on the show since we happen to be filming right now. You will see how everything plays out once the show airs, but I will say this: This season has been the most difficult season I have ever had to film.”
“I never imagined I’d go through something so personal and painful while having the world watch. I’m not saying this for anyone to feel badly, but I know that this is the life I chose and I’m so fortunate in many ways. I always want to be real with y’all.”

‘Courage’ & ‘Strength’
One key takeaway from the podcast was Brittany Cartwright did not make this decision in haste. She has been thinking about it for quite some time but it took a lot of “courage” and “strength” to finally get to this point:
“My decision to file wasn’t made lightly or quickly. It’s taken me many, many years to get to this point where I gained enough courage and strength to do what’s best for me, get myself out of a toxic relationship and ultimately see my worth.”
Now, it appears that she has gotten so much support from fans and co-stars that she was able to leave, knowing she did all that she could do:
-
I hope she knows we have her back on this one. Nobody is shocked or upset with this decision.
- I’m so proud of Brittany to even get herself to make this decision.
- So glad you got out Brit! You will thrive 🦋💗
They will not be doing the podcast together but rather separately. Fans are hopeful they can co-parent peacefully but this will not be an easy road. Are you proud of Brittany for finally stepping up or are you still questioning why she married Jax? Let us know in the comments below.
