After previously stating she wanted to compete on DWTS this year, Peta Murgatroyd revealed she is not part of the cast. Her fans are heartbroken, especially after her fun performances with Barry Williams last season.

However, Peta is confident in her choice and assures everyone it’s for the best. See what she had to say in a new update.

Peta Murgatroyd Voluntarily Decided To Sit This Season Out

Professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd is no stranger to hard work. And she loves competitive dancing. However, she has decided to give her body a rest this year. She sincerely wanted to join the competition, but she didn’t feel that her body was ready after giving birth over the summer.

“In terms of me, Dancing With The Stars, guys, I’m sorry, it’s not this season,” the mother of three shared on Instagram, stating it was just too soon after giving birth to her youngest. Milan Chmerkovskiy was born on July 12, meaning Peta would be just over two months post-partum when Season 33 began.

“There’s no way I’m ready physically,” Peta continued. “Mentally, yeah, I’m OK. But physically, I’m not up to par.”

She went on to add that she’s having a great time being a mother to her three sons. Shai, Rio, and Milan keep her and her husband Maks Chmerkovskiy on their toes.

Naturally, Peta’s fans felt saddened to hear she wouldn’t compete this fall, but they ultimately understood. Comments included:

  • Yes! Stay with your babies ❤️ they are small for so short a time.”
  • “Will miss you this season, but glad you are doing what you feel.is best for you and your family ❤️”
  • You’re making the best choice for you & your family❣️The public will still be there when you feel ready. Love to see y’all ❤️”
  • You’re such a great fun role model for moms of all ages… you are so witty.”

Fans Can Still See Some Of The Chmerkovskiys In Action

Maks Chmerkovskiy has retired from DWTS and Peta Murgatroyd will sit out this season. But that doesn’t mean the show isn’t a family affair.

Jenna Johnson’s hairstylist accidentally leaked that she will compete this fall. More than likely, that means her husband, reigning champion Val Chmerkovskiy, is going to compete too. In Peta’s Instagram video, she revealed that she and Maks live a few streets over from Val and Jenna. It’s possible they will take their sons to watch their aunt and uncle compete. If so, fans may be able to spot Maks, Peta, and their boys in the audience.
