Sade was born to a Nigerian father and a German mother. When her mother left and her father returned to Africa, they left her with a family friend. She was then adopted by Edie House, a Baltimore news anchor. However, she reconnected with her biological parents as a teen and remained in contact with them and with her adoptive family.

However, she quickly moved into television work, starting as a production assistant for ABC News programs.
