Deon Derrico Shares Sad Update About GG’s Health
Deon Derrico recently shared an update about his mom, Marian “GG” Derrico. The Doubling Down With The Derricos star celebrated a milestone birthday with his mother amid ongoing health problems. Marian ‘GG’ Derrico Discontinued Chemotherapy Earlier This Year
Doubling Down With The Derricos fans saw that Deon’s mom decided to discontinue chemotherapy for her lung cancer in Season 5. GG has battled lung cancer since 2014 and decided she wanted to stop treatment.
In June, Deon Derrico opened up about how his mom was doing after she decided to stop chemo. He told Parade that it was “very challenging navigating through the many changes” and that he “couldn’t get through it without the prayers.”
He continued, “GG, now she’s still just dealing with the residual effects of the chemo. So she still has good days and bad days. You know, she has days when I’m asking God like, ‘God, what now?’ And then she has days, I said, ‘Oh my, you know you’re looking pretty good today.’”
Deon Derrico Pays Tribute To GG On Her 75th Birthday
On Tuesday, Deon Derrico took to Instagram with an update about his mom. He shared an array of photos of his mother along with a heartfelt message.
“Happy Birthday 75th to the matriarch of my family Ms. Marian J. DERRICO!” he wrote in the caption. “I love you Ma, from the moon and back because of you…. I’m ME, and I’ve been blessed with all that I have because of your endless love, guidance, strength, and your ability to connect with me on an intellectual level from a small child!”
Deon Derrico also provided a short and sweet health update about his mom in the caption. According to the TLC star, his mom has been doing relatively well since she stopped chemo.
“It’s my prayer, my wish, my hope, and my desire that GOD, continues to bless you with an abundance of great health and vibrant lifestyle to allow another 25 years or more of being the Mother, Diva and Grandmother.” he continued. Then he proceeded to list off all of GG’s 15 grandchildren.

He wrapped up the post, writing, “As they need your love and influence as you are thee oldest living relative that we all have…. To GOD be the GLORY.”
Fans of the Derricos flooded the comments with support for GG. One fan commented, “Happy birthday ms Marian you are looking good I just love your smile.”
Another chimed in with their well wishes, “Happy Birthday GiGi may you enjoy and that God will Bless you to have many more.” A third person wrote, “GG is one of a kind. Happy birthday,” while a fourth commented, “You deserve to be celebrated with all the love and happiness.”
A separate birthday post showed some of Deon Derrico’s kids performing for their grandmother on her birthday. She was smiling ear to ear.
