Blake Lively’s Feud With Costar Crushes Hope Of Sequel
Blake Lively has been in the news a lot recently. People have been calling her out as a “mean girl” and “bully” on her press tour for It Ends With Us. Now, it seems like she may be the reason there is no sequel to the highly-anticipated film. Her ongoing feud with her costar Justin Baldoni may have dashed all hopes of that ever happening. Keep reading to see what a source has revealed.
‘No World Where These Two Will Work Together Again’
The feud between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively has been heavily publicized. While it seemed like it was just a rumor at first, a source close to the situation has confirmed that the pair will likely never work together again. This could potentially kill any plans for It Starts With Us, the sequel to It Ends With Us.
“This is uncharted territory, and nobody has any idea of what a sequel could look like,” an insider told Variety. “There’s probably no world where these two will work together again.”
That said, a separate source told Page Six, “No definitive decisions have been made about the sequel.”
So, what happened between the costars that has caused so much tension? Blake Lively, who plays Lily Bloom in the film, was allegedly very uncomfortable with Justin Baldoni (Ryle Kincaid) on set.
Multiple sources have said that Justin, who directed and owns the cinematic rights to It Ends With Us, made Blake feel bad about herself. A source previously revealed that the actress felt like she was “fat-shamed.”
At one point, Justin asked a trainer on set about how much Blake weighed. Apparently, he has a history of problems with his back and was concerned about hurting himself when he had to pick her up for a scene.
Will Blake Lively Be Involved In The Sequel?
While Blake Lively felt uncomfortable on a number of occasions on set, Justin Baldoni felt there was a power struggle for creative control in the movie. Blake is a producer for the film, but she often made significant changes in the wardrobe and script without speaking to Justin at all. She also allegedly allowed her movie star husband to have some creative control on the project as well.
The rooftop scene in the film was apparently written by Ryan Reynolds. Justin thought Blake ad-libbed the scene, but she revealed that her husband actually wrote it during the movie’s premiere.
That said, both Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively could be out of the picture for the movie’s sequel. Justin and his company Wayfarer Studios own the cinematic rights to It Starts With Us as well. So, he will probably be involved in some way, but he has already hinted at not acting in the film.
“I think that there are better people for that one,” he said regarding whether or not he’ll direct the next movie. “I think Blake Lively’s ready to direct, that’s what I think.”
