‘TODAY’ Fans Get A Look Inside Al Roker’s $5M NYC Home
Today Show viewers got a rare glimpse inside Al Roker’s stunning $5 million brownstone in New York City last week. Oprah Winfrey joined Al in his home for a birthday dinner in his lush garden. Keep reading to see a few shots of the Today host’s beautiful home.
Al Roker’s Stunning NYC Brownstone
Al Roker shares his home in the Upper East Side with his wife, Deborah Roberts. The 70-year-old welcomed Oprah into their house to talk about his milestone birthday in an intimate one-on-one interview. They enjoyed some food that Al prepared on the grill and shared a few drinks.
On Tuesday’s episode of Today, Al’s co-host and friend Hoda Kotb said, “For your special day, we asked if there was anybody you wanted to talk to and you immediately answered…” Al Roker finished her sentence quickly, “Oprah! Of course.”
So, they set up an interview with Oprah at Al’s home. The television and radio legend, who also turned 70 in January, promised to offer the Today meteorologist some insights on growing older.
On Instagram, Al shared some of the photos of himself and Oprah enjoying a meal together. “Talk about a great birthday present,” he wrote in the caption. “The one and only Oprah shares #lifelessons about turning #70. Still processing the conversation. It was that good.”
Today viewers got to see the conversation on Tuesday’s episode, which heavily focused on Al’s birthday. They also got to see some shots of the inside of Al Roker’s beautiful NY home.
Clips showed Oprah walking up to the door at Al’s brownstone, which has a gorgeous wrought iron entry. As they stepped inside, viewers caught a glimpse of some of the amazing artwork that hung on the walls and a full bar.
Then the pair moved on to where they would have most of their conversation, Al’s fenced-in patio. Oprah and Al had a tequila mixed drink while they waited for their food to be ready. The Today meteorologist cooked them steaks on his Big Green Egg, which is priced at around $1,100.
Oprah Winfrey Gives Al Advice About Turning 70
During their chat, Oprah Winfrey gave Al Roker some advice about turning 70. The esteemed talk show host said that she was “excited” to hit the milestone. She revealed that as a child she never thought she’d even make it to 60 years old.
“There’s a sense of knowing that there isn’t as much time left and I’m at peace with that knowing and there’s a sense of urgency about living well,” she told Al.
Oprah then spoke about her knee surgeries, something that Al Roker knows a bit about. “My great gift is being able to live in the present moment,” she said. “It’s the thing that brings me the greatest joy. I’m not a worrier, I will worry about the thing when the thing shows up.”
Al then asked Oprah if she felt like she had accomplished what she was put on Earth to do. Thinking for a moment, Oprah said that she feels like it always continues “until the last breath.”
Finally, Oprah Winfrey told Al Roker that there truly is “no offering greater than your love.” She continued, stating that it doesn’t matter if he’s speaking to his audience of millions or just one person. What matters is how you make people feel, the retired talk show host said.
Oprah further explained, “So that feeling that you leave with every person you encounter, that becomes your legacy.”
“So seventy is a number but nothing to be worried about,” Al asked her, looking for reassurance. Winking, Oprah replied, “Don’t be scared.”
