‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’ Returns To TLC
Thirteen years after being canceled, TLC has announced that it is bringing back Jon & Kate Plus 8. The show, which premiered in 2007, followed the lives of Kate and Jon Gosselin as they navigated raising eight children. However, fans seemed to be fine with never seeing the couple on television again. Here’s what people are saying.
TLC Brings Back Jon & Kate Plus 8
TLC teased the return of Jon & Kate Plus 8 on Instagram. The network shared a clip from the first-ever episode of the show. In the caption, they wrote, “We’re cracking open the vault! Watch season 1 of #JonandKatePlus8 TONIGHT starting at 8/7c.”
While there were some fans excited to see the family back on TV, others were less than thrilled. One critic commented, “This is a perfect example of when TLC says ‘all your favorite couples’ but really it’s just the couples that play along and allow the network to do what they need. We don’t want this.”
Other comments suggested that viewers aren’t interested in strolling down memory lane with the family. “Hard pass,” one person wrote. Another suggested, “TLC pls read the room,” while a third commented, “Some things belong forgotten.” A fourth person questioned, “Wth is going on over at TLC???”

As mentioned above, Jon & Kate Plus 8 made its debut on TLC in 2007. The show continued to air through the couple’s divorce in 2009 but was ultimately canceled in 2011. Then, the family made a short return to television in 2015, airing for three seasons before the show officially came to an end in 2017.
Kate Gosselin Is Still Struggling To Find Her ‘Normal’
Since their time in the spotlight ended, Jon and Kate Gosselin have gone on to lead fairly normal lives. In November 2023, Jon talked about his new career as a DJ. Kate, on the other hand, has become a licensed nurse.
The mother of eight has been struggling financially. Last year, it was reported that she was living alone in North Carolina. Four of her children, Aaden, Alexis, Leah, and Joel, who lived with her moved out to go to college.
Mady and Cara, the twins, were living and working in New York after they both graduated from college.
Even though she has a nursing license, Kate Gosselin hasn’t had any other job than reality television in 17 years. In 2023, she appeared on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. It was the first time she’d appeared on television since 2019.
“It’s very clear that Kate has no interest in living a normal life and having a real job,” an insider told The U.S. Sun. “It looks like Kate’s financial situation is dire.”
As of last year, the Jon & Kate Plus 8 star was living in a lakeside home in NC worth $750,000.
