As longtime Adam Sandler fans know, he has been churning out hit movies for decades. Some viewers may argue that the early ’90s to the early 2000s was his heyday, but, even now, the actor continues to produce films that keep audiences tuning in.
If you look back, one of those films from that Adam Sandler heyday is none other than Happy Gilmore. The film came out all the way back in 1996. It ended up grossing $41M at the box office on only a $12M budget. So, there was a major return when it came to this comedy classic.
Happy Gilmore 2 Got The Green Light
While people would have loved for there to be a sequel to the film much sooner, it took quite some time for everything to line up. After decades of waiting and wondering if the sequel would ever see the light of day, Netflix eventually made it official. The streaming giant confirmed that the Happy Gilmore 2 sequel would be happening.
The Price Is Right original host, Bob Barker, had a role in the original film. Adam Sandler has even said that he would love for the current host of the popular game show, Drew Carey, to appear in this upcoming sequel. However, based on the latest news making the rounds, Sandler fans could end up in the new film, too.

While the original filming location for the first film was in Vancouver, filming on Happy Gilmore 2 will take place in New Jersey. With that being the case, the production is not only filming in New Jersey, but casting there as well. For any Adam Sandler fans in the New Jersey area who would love to be in the film, this is the time for it.
Filming on the project will officially begin in September. So, there will be plenty of opportunities available for extras on the set. For anyone in the area who wants to appear in the film, even just for bragging rights among friend circles, there will be an open casting call on Tuesday, August 20.
The call will take place from 1 pm until 8 pm at the plaza ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Morristown. According to the latest casting call news for Happy Gilmore 2, production is looking for New Jersey locals of all ages and ethnicities.
