Matthew Perry’s Friends Shocked Following Multiple Arrests
There were some major arrests made in the investigation following Matthew Perry’s death. This includes three people who already took plea deals, one of which was his assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa. He was who got the ketamine for Perry that ended up killing the actor.
In the wake of the arrests and charges, many of Perry’s friends and family are shocked at Iwamasa’s arrest following the event.
Matthew Perry’s Friends & Family React To Arrests
After all the arrests made this week in the Matthew Perry death case, the one that shocked his friends and family the most was his assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa. He acted on Perry’s behalf. Kenneth acquired the ketamine Matthew thought he needed. Additionally, Kenneth helped inject it.
According to one source close to Matthew, the actor’s friends and family remain “saddened” and “blindsided” after Kenneth’s arrest (via Us Weekly). “Matthew kept secrets,” they said. “I wouldn’t be shocked if Kenny was the only one who knew how bad it really was.”
Kenneth began working for Matthew in June 2022. He previously worked for Perry’s manager, Doug, for many years. When Kenneth started his job, Matthew wasn’t sober and was drifting in and out of sobriety, with several people reportedly taking care of him.
“Kenny knew the situation and could deal with Matthew,” the source claims. Since Matthew wasn’t working, he only needed an assistant to handle his life and help out around the house. However, when Matthew felt he needed more ketamine than his normal prescribed treatments to get by, Kenneth was who reached out and helped him get what he wanted.
What Will Happen To Matthew Perry’s Assistant?
Before the arrest announcements, Kenneth Iwamasa was one of the first people to plead guilty to his part in Matthew Perry’s death. Matthew’s acquaintance, Erik Fleming, also pleaded guilty to helping facilitate the connections. A San Diego doctor named Mark Chavez also accepted a deal after helping the doctor who got Matthew extra ketamine.
The two biggest criminal charges are lined up for Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who provided the ketamine and administered it to Perry, and Jasveen Sangha, an alleged drug dealer known as “The Ketamine Queen,” who reportedly supplied more ketamine to the actor.
Iwamasa pleaded guilty on August 7 to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine, causing death. He admitted to helping inject Perry with the drugs without medical training. More so, he did this on the day that Perry died. However, Fleming admitted that he distributed the ketamine that killed Perry.
Iwamasa will face up to 15 years after his sentencing in his federal case.
