Aimee Garcia and Paul Campbell portray Birdie and Alden Case in the Hallmark Mystery series The Cases Of Mystery Lane. What do the two love about this series?
The Laughing Place reported from the TCA Winter 2024 that both love that this is a married couple that are getting to know each other again, and falling in love with each other.
Aimee shared, “What I love about this movie is that it’s re-falling in love with someone that you’re already with, rediscovering someone that you brush your teeth with. And so, even though they are polar opposites, yin and yang, they’ve been together for years. They have no hobbies together except for murder…”
Paul completed her statement, just like an old married couple, “Solving.” He continued. “When you find people deep into a marriage at a crossroads and having drifted apart, there is a sense of this renewed flirtation when you come back together.”
Paul then complimented Aimee’s take on her choices in portraying Birdie. She chooses to use the character differences as the reason why there is a deep love. He liked that “as a character to love Alden in these moments.” He continued how this is “authentic” as both characters can be “themselves” quirks and all. “Instead of it becoming a divide, it became the connective tissue.”
