Many Men Slid Into Joan Vassos’ DMs After Golden Bachelor
Joan Vassos was only on The Golden Bachelor for a few episodes. The widowed mom of four left the show after a frantic phone call from her daughter, who had recently given birth. Joan chose family over romance. She was rewarded for her selflessness by being named the first Golden Bachelorette.
Her season will start next month. Joan Vassos chatted with Entertainment Tonight about her journey on the reality TV franchise. She revealed that many men were in her DMs after she was on Gerry Turner’s season.
However, the interactions were brief because “none of them seemed to be anything that would really work out.” But some of the private messages she got were “weird.”
She Reveals Disturbing Messages
According to Joan Vassos, her children had to intervene at one point and start blocking the naughty messages. She told ET that she received multiple “d**k pics.” But worst of all was the foot fetishes.
“And I got people with foot fetishes. They wanted me to send them pictures of my feet and would pay me for it. One person offered to buy all the shoes that I wore on Golden Bachelor. It was scary.”
She previously detailed a terrible experience she had with online dating apps. Hopefully, her suitors are better behaved.
What Joan Vassos Learned From Gerry Turner
Gerry Turner’s season ended in an engagement. He married Theresa Nist just weeks after the season finale aired. However, the relationship quickly turned into a disaster. Gerry and Theresa announced they were divorcing just three months after their widely-watched TV wedding.
Despite the outcome, Joan Vasoss said she considers Gerry Turner a “good friend.” And she plans to take one piece of advice from him.
“He exemplified somebody who is very open and vulnerable. He said that’s what you need to be from day one because you don’t have a lot of time.”
Bachelor Nation fans are hoping Joan Vassos has better luck at finding love later in life than Gerry Turner did.
The Golden Bachelorette premieres on ABC on Wednesday, 18, 2024, at 8 PM Eastern. There’s no word yet about whether there will be another Golden Bachelor season.
