‘Deadliest Catch’ Captain Keith Almost Loses Crew Member In Fire
This season’s Deadliest Catch shows why things are so dangerous in the fishing occupation. It isn’t just about the dangerous storms and deadly waves. Other dangers take place when the crew is out on the water, a long way from land. This includes a fire that took place on the show this season.
Here is a look at the fire that took place on Captain Keith Colburn’s boat and how it almost cost one crew member his life.
What Happened With Captain Keith Colburn’s Ship Fire On Deadliest Catch?
When this season of Deadliest Catch began, Captain Keith Colburn saw a devastating fire break out on his Fishing Vessel Wizard. This was a tough break for the captain and just adds to the struggles that he has had over the years. In this episode, fans saw how Captain Keith handled the situation.
The Season 20 premiere episode saw Captain Keith Colburn’s vessel catch on fire. This was shocking, as Keith is usually one of the safest captains on the show, and he takes no nonsense from crew mates who don’t respect the dangers. However, when The Wizard caught fire, the captain jumped into action.
It started with smoke on the bow, and Keith looked for the source; it was coming from below deck. That is when they did a head count and realized that someone was missing. Tyler Gateman was not with the rest of the crew. The crew started looking for Tyler and finally found him when he was screaming for assistance. He was caught behind a wall of fire.
The crew extinguished the fire and rescued Tyler, taking him to safety. He was coughing and gasping for air, and Captain Keith was shaken up. Tyler is his best friend’s son, and he almost watched him die on his own shipping vessel. It once again shows how dangerous this show really is.
What Is Happening This Season On Deadliest Catch?
Captain Keith Coburn and his shipping vessel, The Wizard, is just one of many stories taking place in the 20th season of the hit Discovery Channel series.
This season’s cast includes Captain Jake Anderson, a man who went from being a greenhorn for Captain Sig Hansen to the leader of his own shipping vessel. However, it was an interesting time since he had his F/V Saga impounded and had to move on to lead the F/V Titan Explorer, starting over from the ground up.
There has also been some controversy when accusations arose that some of the show’s events, including a man overboard incident, were staged this season.
