‘Good Bones’ Making Major Change In HGTV Return
Good Bones is returning to HGTV. However, as the show starring Mini Starsiak Hawk and her mother, Karen E. Laine, is making a big return, there will be some changes coming for the reality TV series.
Here is what you need to know about Good Bones’ return and how it will be different from before.
What Is Good Bones On HGTV?
For those who missed it the first time around, the mother-daughter team of Mini Starsiak Hawk and Karen E. Laine launched Good Bones in 2016. This all started nine years after they started Two Chicks and a Hammer, a home renovation company. The show saw them renovating houses around their home in Indianapolis.
In 2023, HGTV announced that it was canceling the show. This caused problems with the stars. Mina was unhappy with the announcement and told her fans that she was filming the last scenes of the show for good. She said it was now all over with. It turns out this was not a network problem, though.
Mina and her mother, Karen, apparently had a falling out. “There were definitely some challenging [moments] because my mom and I were in some of the most challenging places I felt we’ve been,” Mina said (via PEOPLE). Mina even referred to it as a “knockdown drag-out.”
However, things seem to be returning to normal, and Good Bones is returning to HGTV.
How Is Good Bones Different With New Show?
With Good Bones returning to HGTV, some changes will be made. First, Mina and Karen have gone their separate ways. In the new series, Good Bones: New Beginnings, they will be working on different projects in different states.

Mina will update a lake house north of Indianapolis. This should keep things familiar location-wise. However, Karen has left and is renovating a bungalow in Wilmington, North Carolina. These two towns are 754 miles apart. This is where the new series will pick up.
Good Bones: New Beginnings will only be three episodes. The first episode will focus on Mina, and the second and third will focus on Karen’s renovation. HGTV has not said whether the two will share the screen in the new series. Fans seem ready for the new episodes, even if Mina and Karen remain estranged.
- “I can’t wait to see what Mina has done with the lake house!!!!”
- “Excited to see both of them back. People and families have journeys, thank you @hgtv for respecting theirs and finding a way to keep them in our living rooms.”
- “I miss Karen It will be exciting to see her again”
