‘Real Housewives’ Stars Refuse To Follow New Conduct Rules?
Following a series of public scandals, Bravo implemented stronger code of conduct rules. Real Housewives stars are reportedly unhappy and refusing to follow the new guidelines. Keep reading for all the details.
Major Scandals Hit Bravo
The Bravo network has had its fair share of embarrassing and problematic scandals in the last few years. Several Vanderpump Rules stars were fired in 2020 after their alleged racism was exposed. One of the fired SURvers, Stassi Schroeder, is planning a return to TV four years after her firing.
Viewers of Below Deck Down Under Season 2 nearly witness a sexual assault on-screen when Bosun Luke Jones attempted to enter the bed of an intoxicated stewardess. Producers had to intervene and he was fired, along with another Below Deck star who sexually harassed another crew member.
The Real Housewives of Orange County star Shannon Beador was booked on DUI charges in 2023 after crashing her car into a house.
Real Housewives Stars Refuse To Follow New Conduct Rules?
Shortly after Beador’s arrest, Bravo’s parent company, NBCUniversal, strengthened its code of conduct rules that all the stars of the network have to abide by. The code of conduct also clarified the non-disclosure agreement cast and crew have to sign after former RHONY star Bethenny Frankel called them “unrealistic.”
But a source close to production spilled to In Touch that the updated code of conduct is causing drama behind the scenes, especially with the Real Housewives stars.
“While new cast members are eager to sign anything for a chance to be on TV, several original Housewives are unhappy with the new clause in their contract.”
What are these new rules they are allegedly refusing?
New Alcohol Rule
Alcohol consumption has been a problem on reality TV shows on Bravo and other networks. ABC’s Bachelor Nation franchise implemented strict drink limits following a scandal on Bachelor In Paradise involving sexual consent.
According to Deadline, Bravo’s new code of conduct created stronger rules surrounding alcohol. The updated clause required “expanded alcohol-related training” to the cast and crew that includes how the producers monitor alcohol consumption.
It’s unclear if the new alcohol rules are a response to Shannon Beador’s DUI.
Expanded Mental Health Help
Mental health became a huge topic in Bravoland after Rachel Leviss and Tom Sandoval’s affair was outed on Vanderpump Rules. Rachel checked herself into a mental health facility following the backlash for the affair.
Deadline revealed that the previous code of conduct required all cast members to meet with a mental health professional before filming. The new rules stipulate that the same services must be provided after filming as well. The updated guidelines also require on-site psychological support during reunion tapings.
Insiders didn’t reveal to In Touch which Bravolebs are refusing to follow the new rules. Any guesses?
