‘Mama June’ Lauryn Efird Changes Last Name Amid Divorce Filing
Lauryn Efird has made it clear that she’s ready to move on from her marriage to her husband Josh. The Mama June star has even gone as far as to change her last name already. Josh & Lauryn Efird Move Fast
Mama June fans noticed that Lauryn Efird updated her Facebook profile recently. Of course, her relationship status has changed from married to single, but more importantly, she’s changed her name.
Now, her profile reads “Lauryn Mychelle Shannon,” taking back her maiden name. Some Mama June fans think this may be because she has a new man, Darrin Kitchens. He has been a friend of the family for some time and even has photos with some of Lauryn’s kids on social media.
“Like the old adage says, ‘Like mother like daughter!’ Gotta have a man, even if you’re married! Way to go Pumpkin!” one fan wrote on Reddit. Another pointed out, “I read Josh has a girlfriend already too. They move fast!!”
Considering Pumpkin just officially filed for divorce a week ago, it does seem like things are moving pretty fast. However, one Mama June fan suggested that they could have been on the rocks for a while. There have been whispers that there was cheating going on.
Mama June Fans Think It’s All A Publicity Stunt
Despite the public move to further separate herself from Josh Efird, many people still think it’s a publicity stunt.
“I can’t help but wonder if this is all for publicity,” one Reddit user asked. “Who goes balls out posting every single breakup post and changes their name so quickly? Anna is gone now so they need a new storyline.”
This isn’t the first time Mama June fans have accused Lauryn or someone in the family of creating drama to keep the show going. Pumpkin recently addressed whether or not the WeTV program would be returning for a new season in a TikTok Live video. She admitted they didn’t have any word about when or if they’d be filming again.
There has to be something going on for the network to renew the show. Could the entire divorce fiasco be a ploy to get viewers and the network on board for another season of Mama June?
Pumpkin initially filed for divorce on August 1. She and Josh got married on June 17, 2019. According to court documents, they were officially separated in July 2024 and have been living in separate homes since then.
The couple was allegedly handling the divorce out of court and reached an agreement before court documents were filed. Lauryn will keep the house and neither party is owed alimony. They also agreed to have joint custody of their four kids.
