Julianne Hough Touches On Problems With Brother Derek
Utah-based siblings Derek and Julianne Hough are major players in the world of ballroom dance. For years, the two appeared incredibly close and frequently collaborated on projects together.
But like all other siblings, they too have their share of problems.
While Dancing With The Stars fans eagerly await the new season, the cast members are attending to matters in their personal lives. And in a new interview, Julianne hinted that she and Derek had some hiccups in their relationship.
Julianne Hough Hints She & Derek Have Deeper Problems
Derek and Julianne Hough have both admitted in the past they bicker like all siblings do. But they might actually have deeper problems they don’t want the public to see.
As most Dancing With The Stars fans know, Derek’s wife Hayley Erbert suffered a serious medical emergency last December. She required two skull surgeries but did go on to dance again. Thankfully, it seems she’s healing well now.
And according to Julianne, that tragedy really brought the family together again.
“Something happens and it just is like a clean slate,” the DWTS hostess shared with PEOPLE in a recent interview. “Especially with what just happened with Derek and Haley, there could have been little things just kind of looming or lingering in the background, but when you’re left with life-or-death situations, nothing else matters. “Whatever little things of competition there are or whatever it might be, those things just go away.”
“I am so blessed to have the family that I have, even when we’re not all on the same page, when we don’t sometimes have the same beliefs or understandings of things,” she continued.
“The thing that hurts the most is when we’re not connected,” Julianne added. “And so sometimes you do the thing that hurts the most, which is remove yourself because you’re trying to protect yourself. So our family is like any other family. We have our situations and our s—, but our deepest desire is to connect. And I think we all really have a strong desire to make that happen.”
The Hough Siblings Will Be Back For Season 33
Although both Derek and Julianne Hough have had an incredibly busy year, both will be back in the ballroom when Season 33 returns. Derek returns as head judge while Julianne will resume her hosting duties alongside Alfonso Ribeiro.
Hopefully, the siblings are able to put aside their differences and put on a successful show for viewers. Whatever comes their way, they will always have each other.
