Disgraced Anchor Matt Lauer Agonizing Over Olympics Coverage
Disgraced news anchor Matt Lauer has been seething watching his former colleagues at NBC cover the Paris Olympics. A source revealed that he has been agonizing over not being there to cover the event. For Matt, it is just another reminder of what his life used to look like. Matt Lauer Is Devastated That He’s Not At The Olympics This Year
The former NBC anchor first cohosted the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008. After that, he became a regular presenter at the Olympics. In 2010, he cohosted the Winter Olympics in Canada in 2010. He went on to present the London 2012 Olympics, the 2014 Games in Sochi, Russia, and the 2016 Summer Olympics in 2016.
Now, watching his former colleagues presenting this year’s Games has been painful for Matt Lauer. “It’s very agonizing for him being out in the cold, still,” the source told In Touch Weekly.
They continued, “He cohosted the opening ceremonies of several Olympics, both summer and winter, and he was excellent at it, in his own estimation.”
Matt Lauer was fired in 2017 after a number of complaints about him were made. The network cited “a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace” to be the reason behind Matt getting canned.
An official statement read, “It is the first complaint about his behavior in the over 20 years he’s been at NBC News.” However, “we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident.”
News outlets quickly picked up on the news and it was later reported that Matt was actually facing allegations from at least 10 different women. At one point, it was revealed that he “once gave a colleague a sex toy as a present.”
Since the allegations were made, Matt Lauer has been MIA. He certainly has not covered any Olympic Games (or anything else, for that matter).

“It’s extremely unpleasant to see his former colleagues jostling for position in Paris, not because they’re doing a better job, but because they got lucky,” the source shared.
Matt Lauer’s former colleagues on The Today Show stepped up to host the Games this year. Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie have been the two main faces from NBC at the Paris Olympics.
Savannah Guthrie gushed over the experience on August 1. She said, “It’s so, so much fun. It’s so beautiful. It’s so exciting that, of course, you wish that your kids were here. You wish that your spouse was here.”
Hoda and Savannah were both present for the opening ceremony. Savannah swooned over Celine Dion’s performance. She said, “We were just a puddle on the floor. That wasn’t the rain. Those were our tears. It was just so beautiful.”
To add insult to injury for Matt Lauer, this has been one of the most star-studded Olympic Games in recent history. Hoda was star-struck, saying, “We’ve been to plenty of Olympics. I don’t think we’ve ever been to an Olympics with this many celebrities. Every time you turn around it’s like, ‘Oh, there’s Lady Gaga. Oh, there’s Anna Wintour.'”
The inside source said that it is “impossible to ignore it” for Matt and “it’s just devastating to him.” They added, “He’s in a foul mood over it. He goes over and over it, wondering why he can’t get a break, but must know it’s not going to happen at this point.”
