‘DWTS’ Maks Chmerkovskiy Relieved To Not Have Daughter
Professional dancer Maks Chmerkovskiy and his wife Peta Murgatroyd are so happy to have a houseful of children. Their third son, Milan Maksim Chmerkovskiy, was born on July 12 of this year.
While many fans thought they might like to have a daughter this time, Maks and Peta have fully embraced their role as “boy parents.” In fact, the father of three admitted he’s a little relieved he doesn’t have any daughters.
Maks Chmerkovskiy Loves Being A ‘Boy Dad’
Over the years, DWTS fans watched Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd do everything in their power to expand their family. They tried IVF, which ultimately failed. But eventually, they went on to conceive and welcome two more healthy sons.
Having three kids is a dream come true for the happy couple. But in a recent interview, Maks shared how relieved he was when he learned his third child would also be a son.
“What do you find most rewarding about being a boy dad?” Hello! asked the Ukrainian dancer.
“That I don’t have to deal with being a girl dad. You know?” he replied. “…We wanted a girl, for sure. Why wouldn’t we, you know? But when ‘it’s a boy’ I’m not gonna lie to you, there was a bit of a relief because I don’t know what to do with girls. I have a brother. I don’t have a sister. My mom doesn’t know how to braid a hair. So we grew up [in] boy scenarios. At the moment I’m happy, but if I were to be a girl dad, it’d be incredible. Like I said, I just wouldn’t know what to do with her!”

Maks and Peta haven’t publicly said whether or not they want to try for a daughter, or if they are content with three sons. It’s entirely possible Maks might change his tune in a few years.
The Pro Dancer Also Hints At His DWTS Return
It’s been several years since Maks Chmerkovskiy competed on DWTS alongside his wife, brother Val, and sister-in-law Jenna. But in the interview, he hinted he’s thinking about returning to the ballroom.
When asked if he wanted to return to the show, Maks had a clear answer.
“I mean, yeah. Why not? I would love to,” he replied. “…I wouldn’t mind today because my mentality’s different, my body’s different, my feelings about everything sort of life are different, and the outlook on opportunities, possibilities, the reality, the things that make you happy. … And so from that standpoint, if the opportunity comes and it’s the right type of opportunity, and by that I mean, there’s a reason and a need for me to be back, I would love the opportunity.”
