On Wednesday, Cameron Mathison and his wife Vanessa Mathison shared a joint Instagram post announcing that they split up after 22 years of marriage. This is what the shared statement said.
After 22 years of marriage, we have made the difficult decision to part ways. We enter this new chapter with deep love, kindness, and respect for each other. We hold gratitude in our hearts for the wonderful years we shared together. Our children have been and will continue to be our highest priority, and we will forever share in our devotion and love for them.
The final sentence asked for privacy during this difficult time. “We remain friends, and both wish the best for one another. We sincerely appreciate your respect for our family’s privacy during this transition.”
This is a huge shocker as Mathison just recently posted that he would soon be an empty nester soon. He has devoted several posts to his beloved daughter Leila.
But, his focus has been on his health and his cancer updates. Five years ago in September, the Great American Family star was diagnosed with kidney cancer and had part of his kidney removed as part of his treatment.
Yet, many regular fans may have realized that a seismic change was happening in the Mathison’s lives. Moreover, fans have noticed Vanessa’s absence from his social media for a long time.

Not everyone was shocked about this split. That is because for over a year, many savvy fans asked on Cameron Mathison’s social media posts whether or not he and Vanessa were still together. Those observant fans likely noticed that the General Hospital star was only seen in photographs with his two children.
As for Vanessa, her posts have been mainly of herself at home or traveling. That includes her news that she recently removed breast implants.
Cameron Mathison and Vanessa Arevalo met in 1998. They were both working as models. In 2002, the couple married. They had two children, Lucas and Leila. The family shared many photos of time together traveling to places like Santorini, Greece, or spending family time.
