Emma Samms Is Returning As Holly Sutton In General Hospital
On Monday, Soap Opera Digest has reported that General Hospital star Emma Samms is reprising her role as Holly Sutton. Although there are no details on her storyline, they did reveal when viewers will see her on screen. It will be in September.
Fans of Samms are surely happy about this return. She was on the ABC soap just a year ago. In her 2023 return, Holly Sutton was on a mission. She was determined to avenge loved ones and destroy antagonist Victor Cassadine.
Cassadine was the source of great pain for Holly. This diabolical man kidnapped her son. He also caused Holly a great deal of pain when he killed her sister. Could her return to the series have to do with someone avenging this man?
Could Robert And Holly Reunite On General Hospital?
There is no doubt, General Hospital fans love the romance between Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) and Holly Sutton. When Emma Samms was last on the soap, Holly and Robert managed to find time for romance. However, that was in limbo when she left Port Charles. Could Rogers return and see where this romance goes? That remains to be seen.
Samms had shared with TV Insider that originally Holly was meant to be a love interest for Luke Spencer, played by Tony Geary. They married for convenience so she would not be deported. However, when Luke was gone, it was Scorpio who stood by her when she was pregnant, and when she lost her baby.
Showrunner Gloria Monty could see that fans loved Holly and Scorpio together, and intuitively altered the story. In addition, when the two eventually married on the show, they broke the soap opera rule and portrayed a happily married couple. Emma Samms joined the ABC soap 42 years ago and was instantly a fan-favorite. Her smile and beautiful voice enchanted everyone. That includes the folks at Dynasty. They brought her to the evening soap to portray Fallon Carrington. This also led to the spinoff, The Colbys, along with John James.
In the past 18 years, Samms has returned for short stints with the soap, in addition to a cornucopia of roles, including Love Blossoms, the Hallmark movie where Shantel VanSanten met her now ex-husband, Victor Webster.
