Is ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Airing During Olympics?
The preliminary rounds of the 2024 Olympics are already underway. They started on July 24, but the Opening Ceremony takes place on Friday, July 26. When it aired on NBC, Days of Our Lives was yanked from the schedule so the network could air live from the Olympics. Will new episodes of the soap air daily now that it has moved to the Peacock streaming service?
All About The 2024 Summer Olympics
The Olympics have been a major sporting event since the inaugural games in Athens, Greece, in 1896. Paris, France, takes center stage for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Singer Celine Dion, who revealed she was diagnosed with Stiff-Person Syndrome in 2022, will make a triumphant return to the stage at the Opening Ceremonies.
The Opening Ceremonies will air in the U.S. at 1:30 PM Eastern on NBC and continue throughout the day and night. The special event will also stream on Peacock.
The Olympics will run for over two weeks and end with a Closing Ceremony on Sunday, August 11.
Is Days Of Our Lives Airing During Olympics?
Days Of Our Lives fans dreaded the Olympics when the soap aired on NBC. The show was taken off the air for the entirety of the Olympic Games. But in 2022, Days left NBC after 57 years and made a permanent move to the Peacock streaming platform. It has been renewed through at least 2025, but recent shakeups behind the scenes has again put the show in jeopardy of cancellation.
With the Olympics also airing on Peacock, will new episodes of Days of Our Lives still air daily?
The good news for soap fans is that the Olympics will NOT disrupt Days of Our Lives at all. The streaming service will offer new episodes of DOOL daily, as well as full coverage of the 2024 Olympics.
Breakdancing & More New Olympic Events To Watch
In addition to the standard exciting Olympic events, there’s buzz around this year’s new additions. Sports fans are especially interested in breaking (breakdancing) making its Olympic debut on August 9th.
Unfortunately, it may be a while before the event returns to the Olympics. While it was approved for the 2024 Games, cnet.com reports that it wasn’t approved for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. What other sporting events are new this year?
