‘GH’ Fans Slam Show For Out Of Touch Celeb Cameo
General Hospital took stunt casting to an extreme this week when a notorious celebrity had a guest role on the soap. GH fans weren’t happy about it and called the network out for being out of touch. What happened?
Controversial Blogger Makes Guest Appearance On ABC Soap
One of the main storylines on GH right now involves a leaked audio recording of Port Charles newcomer Natalia (Eva LaRue) disparaging the LGBTQ+ community, including her daughter Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez.) Surprisingly, the villain in the story isn’t Natalia, but Ava Jerome (Maura West) for releasing the audio without consent.
Blaze is in a relationship with Kristina (Kate Mansi) that they had been keeping secret because Blaze wasn’t out yet. In another strange twist to the storyline, Blaze and Kristina lost their jobs due to their relationship. They went on a fictional talk show to do damage control.
Controversial blogger Perez Hilton was the host of the fictional talk show. He gained notoriety in the early 2000s for sharing gossip about celebrities. The juicier, the better. But he was also accused of bullying celebrities and outing the sexuality of several stars before they were ready to come out to the world.
In 2014, he published a piece speculating that GH star Kelly Monaco was involved with musician John Mayer while he was dating pop star Katy Perry.
GH Fans Slam Show Celeb Cameo
The official GH Twitter account posted a preview of Perez Hilton’s cameo on the soap. The post was flooded with criticism, both about the storyline itself and the choice of giving the problematic blogger air time. Check out what some fans were saying:

Soap Cast Member Defends Blogger
Perez Hilton did have his defenders. Kate Mansi, who appeared in the scene with him, took to the comment section to defend him.
The actress wrote that people “reinvent” themselves all the time and admonished fans to “be kind for f*cks sake.” Some fans thought her response was ironic considering Perez Hilton wasn’t exactly kind to the celebrities he wrote about.
